As long as they don’t score 42 in the first quarter it’ll be okay

I seen a stat where Portsmouth hasn’t scored more than 9pts in the last 7 meetings. I’ll take tigers 48-0

Because that holds so much weight on this 2024 game lmao? I’d be shocked if they shut Portsmouth out. Defense is good, not great.

Holds ton of weight “lmao”. This year Ironton’s defense is better than last years. 2023 Tiger D only gave up up 6pts

Trojans players wanted to fight at that 7 on 7. Friday night were gonna see just how much fight they have in em. Tigers with the running clock.

You play dirty football like the tiggers then you’re going to suffer consequences. Ain’t nobody on Portsmouth going to back down to anyone from Ironton. They may win, but they’re going to have to earn it, get hit and deal with it, maybe Portsmouth should’ve been tackling in that 7on7 too.

Secondary is solid, but I think the DL is SWAFT. But no that holds 0 weight. 2 different teams from year to year, meaningless info brought to this thread by you. Lmao

Portsmouth just not balanced enough to stay in this one but Ironton is extremely talented no shame in it. Play tough get out healthy and get ready for the playoffs.

This Friday will be the 134th time Ironton and Portsmouth have played. Only one game in the series has gone into overtime. The 1992 game, where Portsmouth took a 14-0 lead midway through the 3rd quarter. Then Jermon Jackson took over. He returned a kickoff for a TD in the 3rd, then ran off right tackle (Coach Delong) for a 66 yard TD. Tigers scored a TD in the first OT to win 20-14.

I like that Ironton has this matchup for game 10. I mean no offense by this statement, but Portsmouth is a poor man’s Harvest Prep. They have a good running QB, 2 good backs of which one is a stud, and a better than average line. This look will help Ironton prepare for a possible regional semifinal against a very talented, very tough Harvest Prep team. As far as offensive weapons for Ironton, they have 4 legit threats against good teams. Schreck, Terry, Williams, and Carmon can play with anyone, Prep included. They have other athletes who have performed well against much lesser opponents but fade away against talented teams. One kid to watch on defense for the Fighting Tigers is sophomore safety, Brycen Mullens. I believe he has 3 pick 6s this year and always makes the right play. He will be a key going into week 11.

This rivalry has been one sided the last several years, but it’s still fun. Reading the post back and forth on here, the build up to the game, knowing the history, really fun week. I’m looking forward to the game. Hoping the Trojans show up better than they have in years past, Ironton is the favorite, I’m not naive but the upset sure would be neat. Also excited to see Terry play in person for the final time man he’s electric. That is unless they matchup in the playoffs round 2 (I want Fairland personally). Go Trojans!

Hey, I predicted they'd score 35 in the first quarter against GA. Ironton is just on a different level, compared to the other programs in the area.

I'm not one for moral victories, but if you can keep this Ironton team from putting a running clock on you, your team is pretty solid. They blanked Fairland too, remember.

The trojans talk a good fight but they don't have any. Running clock in the 1st half.
