SVC Changes
I know this has been a topic from the past, but would there ever be any consideration for the SVC to make some changes in the future? Would a McClain or Eastern Pike ever be invited to join in the mix? I know the old saying, if it isn't broke then don't fix it. Just seems like it would be nice to add some new teams to the mix.

Re: SVC Changes
Only change that I know of that would make every other school happy in the SVC is Unioto changing conferences.

Re: SVC Changes
The scuttlebutt has been that additions, if there were to be any, would be a product of northerly realignment.
The SVC actually adding teams from that direction, though, always seem like it’s intertwined with what the FAC has on the horizon.
As in, MSL teams come to either of the FAC or SVC… or the idea that MSL teams come to the FAC which in turn encourages a school like McClain to come aboard onto the SVC. With who? Not sure. Simple swap with Unioto, and the FAC becomes more of the “big school” conference of the SE district through more expansion (e.g. Logan Elm and Circleville)? Maybe.

Re: SVC Changes
What would be the benefit for a school like McClain to join? If they want a better record overall they could schedule teams they can beat in nonconference because they would still lose a lot of games in the Svcformerfcfan wrote: ↑Wed Oct 23, 2024 12:12 pm The scuttlebutt has been that additions, if there were to be any, would be a product of northerly realignment.

Re: SVC Changes
I wouldn’t mind seeing a new d4 league started but it would require a lot of teams to leave their current conferences

As a corollary to this thought, it will eventually happen sometime in our lifetimes.formerfcfan wrote: ↑Wed Oct 23, 2024 12:12 pm The scuttlebutt has been that additions, if there were to be any, would be a product of northerly realignment.

The wheels would’ve already been in motion if different actions would’ve happened in the MSL’s civil war saga of 2021-2023.

Re: SVC Changes
Can’t speak on the benefit of McClain joining the SVC, can speak though on how there’s likely less incentive to be in FAC if the conference ends up expanding into Pickaway County (and possibly even Fairfield County) down the line. Or, say, if the FAC does expand and Unioto comes aboard in the process.Rolltanks wrote: ↑Wed Oct 23, 2024 12:16 pmWhat would be the benefit for a school like McClain to join? Re: SVC Changes
Best thing about the Svc is the drive times. When you talk about junior high sports travel is just real nice. If we do go to the fac that would change quite a bit I would rather just start a new league but I think too many teams would have to move around I don’t see it happening

Re: SVC Changes
The point isn’t a matter of “who is too big for the SVC.”
There will be a day where Circleville, Logan Elm and possibly even Amanda-Clearcreek will be future members of a SE District conference — be it the FAC, SVC, or some league that has schools from both current conferences.

Re: SVC Changes
A lot of leagues in the area are either kind of a hodge podge of teams that didn’t fit anywhere else or are fairly uncompetitive. I think going back to the days of “football only” conferences that are more competitive and then more local leagues for other sports where smaller athletic departments can still field good teams would go a long way.
Re: SVC Changes
I’m not sure what the best would be, it all comes down to travel. For unioto I think we have to get waverly for sure then it would be a matter of go north and east or south and west. I think we can get teams like McClain to join but then what would they want to play Logan elm and circleville. I would like those teams, could we get you guys idk. I’m not sure about how much travel teams currently have or what they would be willing to do
Re: SVC Changes
Number of teams would be important too I would hate to have a 5 team league and have to find games for every sport probably every year
Re: SVC Changes
Honestly not sure why Westfall isn’t in the MSL. Unioto and ZT could join FAC or some new conference and then the other schools could find 2-3 new schools to join
Re: SVC Changes
But honestly FAC is way less competitive in football than the SVC. Jackson usually dominates every year

Re: SVC Changes
How much time you got?
The short answer is 1) they never appeared to be interested, 2) they weren’t seen as an expansion candidate and 3) the MSL is on the verge of ending anyways.
The conference is, for all intents and purposes, closed for business. No new members.

Re: SVC Changes
Why not? Every school that you talk to in the SVC says it's time for Unioto to find a new conference. People can say it's because they are too big of a school to stay in the SVC, maybe. Truth is they just win too much.Rolltanks wrote: ↑Wed Oct 23, 2024 12:07 pmWhy?MadeInRossCounty wrote: ↑Wed Oct 23, 2024 11:54 am Only change that I know of that would make every other school happy in the SVC is Unioto changing conferences.
Re: SVC Changes
Why bc we’ve been decent at football for 3 years? The only time I think we were actually dominant was basketball from like 2014-2017 when they won almost 70 league games in a rowMadeInRossCounty wrote: ↑Wed Oct 23, 2024 2:43 pmWhy not?
