WK 10: OVAC - Union Local (8-1) @ Barnesville (9-0)

Post by surfsider »

Should be huge as far as R19 playoffs goes.
If Ironton gets bumped off by Portsmouth, Barnesville could possibly jump to #1 according to Eitel.
If UL wins it could jump as high as #2, but knocking off the Shamrocks and stopping their 35-game regular season streak won't be easy.
Barnesville leads all-time 40-22-3 in series. It's the 'game of the century' this week in western Belmont Co.

I'll go with Barnesville with the win over Union Local, giving the Shamrocks a perfect 10-0 undefeated regular season, plus also extending their regular season winning streak to 36 straight wins.

If i were Barnesville I would have a tougher schedule atleast play 2 teams that are maybe a bigger and better school the experience they would get even if they lost that way maybe they will do better in the playoffs but who knows ? Burg made it to the regional championship game last year and lost of course to HP but Burg won 3 playoff games and went 7 and 3 in the regular season tough schedule! Hopefully the rocks and Pirates meat up again this year but the way it looks the Burg is gonna have a tough route to make it way far

Barnesville is about at the end of their run of dominance. HS football, for the most part, is cyclical in nature when it comes to success with small schools. The Shamrocks have been the benefactors of some big classes, of big boys. Good luck to them as they head into the post season.
