We'll see how it plays out but I think that 9-1 record for Athens is a bit inflated as they only beat 2 teams with a winning record and that was a 6 and 7 win team. Linden McKinley in this one

McKinley likely wins by a couple scores but I like this match up more than most for Athens in this region

I'd say teams 5-8 are the underdogs vs 9-12 in the region

Very interesting game. Is Athens legit or the product of a soft schedule and weak league ? The loss to Nelsonville York is very concerning.

Athens, comfortably.

The City League has been in the tubes for a good minute, and LM has two losses to City League teams.

Only will mention that Linden McKinley beat Amanda Clearcreek in week 1 and Amanda is playing at Portsmouth in the playoffs- think Athens will win but Linden McKinley is capable of the upset.

Absolute best-case scenario in round 1 for Athens. City league schools rarely are as good as their records on the gridiron. Athens awaits a week 12 trip to Death Valley to play the Big Red.

Athens should take this one by 2 scores, at least.
Linden did beat a solid East team.

I'm hopeful that the Bulldogs can rebound after their loss to the Buckeyes, and will be able to get a first round playoff win against Linden McKinley.

Athens should win this one by a touchdown.

Region 11 is a buzzsaw. 3 undefeated teams, 3 1-loss teams, and 3 2-loss teams in the playoffs. Whomever wins this region will be well prepared for the State Semifinal game.

I do not know much about this game but a honest question one this one.
Does Athens schedule help them in this game and the rest of the way ?
I’m not trying to be smart @$$ about this.
But Zinder several teams in SE Ohio make the playoffs that may not last long due to who they played.
Just asking a honest question.

No their schedule does NOT help them for the playoffs, they have maybe the easiest schedule in D3. Should be well rested and injury free playing that type of schedule though.

Athens was the fourth best team in their conference this year. If I’m not mistaken they had a similar schedule when they advanced to the state finals in 2014. I don’t believe they care about their schedule at this point. Go Dogs!

So are you comparing this team to the 2014 team?
