Vincent Warren 7 vs Bishop Watterson 44
What happens when a 16 seed plays a 1 seed. Maybe football should try something like the baseball format. Give the lower seeds a chance.

What is the baseball format that would give the lower seed a chance?TigerALUM99 wrote: ↑Fri Nov 01, 2024 11:52 pm What happens when a 16 seed plays a 1 seed. Maybe football should try something like the baseball format. Give the lower seeds a chance.
Re: Vincent Warren 7 vs Bishop Watterson 44
Yeah lets let the 15 and 16 seeds battle it out for the right to play the 1 seed. That'll give the lower seeds a chance! Great idea.TigerALUM99 wrote: ↑Fri Nov 01, 2024 11:52 pm What happens when a 16 seed plays a 1 seed. Maybe football should try something like the baseball format. Give the lower seeds a chance.

Right. I'm sure Warren would have fared better against Hartley or Dover.
Re: Vincent Warren 7 vs Bishop Watterson 44
Right. And regardless, Watterson is gonna molly whop either of those teams so this argument of giving the lower seeds a chance is just prolonging the inevitable.formerfcfan wrote: ↑Sat Nov 02, 2024 10:33 pm Right. I'm sure Warren would have fared better against Hartley or Dover.

Do me a favor and check BW’s score against DeSales. It bears a striking resemblance to the Warren BW score. Anyone with a brain knew what that score was going to be. You can count on one hand - more like a couple fingers - how many teams will, or could, legitimately challenge Watterson. This isn’t the dunk you think it is. Is that what he’s talking about? Just another round to the playoffs? I was confused.bigblue52 wrote: ↑Sat Nov 02, 2024 10:35 pmRight. But here’s some info about Bishop Watterson and how they beat other opponents:
Big Walnut (10-1), 20-0; won 1st playoff game 42-0
Chardon (8-2), 41-9; won 1st playoff game 49-14
Harrison (9-2), 51-14; won 1st playoff game 43-7
DeSales (9-2), 44-7; won 1st playoff game 48-28
Should those teams (three of them are D-II) just not have scheduled them either? Lol. Dumb post.

Like if the any player throws more than 5 forward passes, he can't throw any the following week?TigerALUM99 wrote: ↑Fri Nov 01, 2024 11:52 pm What happens when a 16 seed plays a 1 seed. Maybe football should try something like the baseball format. Give the lower seeds a chance.

It would give them a better chance of advancing and playing another week. That’s the point I was trying to make but some people just get all defensive and start name calling? If you can spend another week with your players, another week of practice and development, it beats playing just one more week. Sure it prolongs the inevitable but it gives the lower seeds more development time for the future. You Warren guys are brutal. Always get negative about stuff. I’m just confused about your solution; I assume you’re just saying to expand the playoffs (or essentially make it like every other sport’s postseason where everyone gets in)?TigerALUM99 wrote: ↑Sun Nov 03, 2024 7:02 amIt would give them a better chance of advancing and playing another week. It’s just weird that you point out “what happens when a #1 plays a #16” and the solution you proposed doesn’t change that. But the example you provided wasn’t really a great example considering Watterson is beating much “better” teams by similar scores. You could’ve just said, “what happens when Watterson plays nearly everyone.” Lol
Re: Vincent Warren 7 vs Bishop Watterson 44
If brutal is being realistic, then yes, we are brutal. Baseball has its format, and football has its format. Regardless of who plays who, and when they play, the best teams normally always reveal themselves. I just don't see the point in letting lower seeds battle it out to play the higher seeds. Baseball 15 and 16 seeds battle it out to play a 1 seed but baseball can be one by one player like a stud starting pitcher. Football is not that way.TigerALUM99 wrote: ↑Sun Nov 03, 2024 7:02 amIt would give them a better chance of advancing and playing another week. No idea what this would accomplishment, it's just unrealistic on every level. Baseball and basketball can play games every day or every other day that's not happening in football so comparing the 2 seems silly. I've always said the format should be 12, top 4 seeds get a bye remaining teams play week 11 and then you move on from there. There's no format in football you can make up that gives the lower seeds a chance, ultimately they're going to have to play the top seed and really in most divisions seeds 13-16 there's not a lot of difference so it doesn't matter.TigerALUM99 wrote: ↑Fri Nov 01, 2024 11:52 pm What happens when a 16 seed plays a 1 seed. Thank you for actually understanding the way sports work. It's appreciated. And that format would actually be very good imo, not letting the 13-16 seeds duke it out for supremacy.greygoose wrote: ↑Tue Nov 05, 2024 3:15 amNo idea what this would accomplishment, it's just unrealistic on every level.
