Re: Wk 14: (9-4) Wheelersburg vs. (12-1) Ironton
This is why these two schools are the elite football schools in Southern Ohio.
Burg came ins a 14 seed and are now playing for a Regional championship. Just goes to show you regular season games are just for bragging rights anymore. I guarantee you Burg traveled farther than any other team in any division in the playoffs and here they are 3-0 in the second season.
No one gave Burg a snowball’s chance in hell a few years back in the rematch and look what happened then. Burg has to control the LOS on offense and have long sustained drives that comes away with points. Can’t let this become a shootout.
Good luck Burg!!! As Al Michael’s once said, “ Do you believe in miracles ?”

Here ya go Burg , you wanted this now you got it. It’s about to get real serious.

Oh yes, since the first three playoff games didn’t matter and weren’t serious.Larry Fine wrote: ↑Fri Nov 15, 2024 11:03 pm Here ya go Burg , you wanted this now you got it. It’s about to get real serious.

No burg fan this year has bragged about wanting a rematch. Ironton is the favorite. Everyone on here knows this.Larry Fine wrote: ↑Fri Nov 15, 2024 11:03 pm Here ya go Burg , you wanted this now you got it. It’s about to get real serious.
Burg will always play hard, be coached up the right way and they will have a chance if they can play a clean game. That’s all the fans can ask for. Burg is playing in the regional championship for the third time in four years. Burg has done this with teams that most think have been some of their weaker teams in years past. The coaches need to be applauded for that.

Lol, just play it at Ironton
Would be terrible to travel 40 miles to play in a regional final. Prayers if it happens.
Re: Wk 14: (9-4) Wheelersburg vs. (12-1) Ironton
IMO it will be at Portsmouth but if they refuse to host then Valley would be the 2nd option I would think cause Jackson is just too far of a drive Trojan Coliseum is plenty big enough to hold the crowd

Tic tok Ironton with another running clock........
Seriously Itown just put the running clock on Harvest Prep who was easily the 2nd best team in the region.
I feel this one gets ugly.

It's an idea solely because the game will draw a very large crowd for this area, potentially bigger than a local HS venue could sustain. Peden Stadium could also be an option. I just figured Marshall would host, since they had hosted Ironton previously. No need to get your panties in a wad.packers80 wrote: ↑Fri Nov 15, 2024 10:02 pmRight. Have the OHIO playoffs out of state. That's so idiotic. Think about what you just said.MisterGalliaGuy2016 wrote: ↑Fri Nov 15, 2024 9:39 pm Ironton probably a little too much still. Remember early on when everyone thought Burg was dead in the water and would struggle to finish above .500? Yeah.....they're safe there lol.
Ironton should win, but I wouldn't be completely shocked if Burg stole a win in this one.
Also, agree with the above. Game should be at Jackson or Portsmouth. Not sure if this would fly with OHSAA, but I wonder if Marshall (not sure if they're home, off, or away this coming weekend) would allow the game to be played at the Joan to accommodate a bigger crowd

Portsmouth and Ironton did play at OU stadium in Athens one year for the playoffs. Early 2000’s I think.

Pretty reliable source says Portsmouth did indeed put in for hosting. This exact game has been played there before, it can hold it, no reason not to play it there.

Both good options, I say we just send both of them down to Spartan.

Re: Wk 14: (9-4) Wheelersburg vs. (12-1) Ironton
I don't know, maybe there's some reason unknown to me that the game wouldn't be hosted in Portsmouth?...but if there's no problem with Portsmouth, why in God's Green Earth would OHSAA send both teams fan's traveling 45 miles (for Ironton and not much better for Burg) to Jackson?? I'll drive it if I have to but.......why? I know one thing...Rooster's in Waverly loved seeing Ironton in town...it was packed with Tiger fans..
I nailed the outcome of tonight's HP game, including a running clock in the 4th qt but...Burg? they worry me
It tickles me seeing some of the predictions from neutral schools talking and telling what Ironton needs to do to win...they're so....well, generic.... it quacks me up! they're usually just......'football cliche's'

The Burg definitely has been getting better each week. They start slow but then get going. A slow start against Ironton could put you down by 21 real quick. This should be a great game. You know each team is gonna bring it.
