One has to wonder if it's even possible, I mean the last 2 coaches were supposed to be "the" guy who can get things turned around and it never happened. Seems like both came out strong early on then whether it's the kids, school, whatever the case kept getting worse the longer they were there.

For those in the community, up here in Columbus we are hearing rumors of a well established private school coach.....Any truth to this rumor

You can make fun of the above poster all you want, but he is right, it is important to the community. I watched first hand how Facebook changed Ironton football lol. You can be stuck in your ways, or get with the times. Kids and parents are different today and are all about attention.

Good or bad, it is what it is

A few successful seasons by Chillicothe and they will absolutely pull talent from the county.
They’ve never really gotten county kids, even when they’ve been really good. In fact, humorously, the last quality true county kid I can think of that went there now coaches Huntington.

I don’t count Galloway and Netter since they were originally Chillicothe kids anyways.
Beeler in 06 (Huntington)

Zack Ray (07 Vinton county)

Curt smith 08 (paint Valley)

From 04-10 Chillicothe consistently had a stud or 2 travel in to play.

Not Chillicothe has last kids from the district consistently. Not unioto has 4 or 5 that live close to Chillicothe

Paint valley has a Chillicothe kid.

ZT has a few that live in Chillicothe district.

A good program changes that kids will stay and more will open enroll.
Curt Smith moved to Paint Valley in the 8th grade from Unioto, and he might have already been a Chillicothe kid before that, so I don't think I would count him.

It's possible to win there. Pryor was 4-6 year one. Not a strong start but they were a young team. Year two they beat Jackson and won the league. Covid bit them right before the playoffs and they played with 18 or 19 kids because the kids wanted to play and lost a hard fought game to Miami Trace w/o their starting all-state QB and WR/DB. Year three was a little bit of a disappointment at 5-4. Then he was replaced. Bart took over the kids that one could argue Pryor's staff built and went 7-4 in '22. They struggled the last two years, however, the '23 squad featured a good sized and talented senior class. This year's squad it seemed was struck by the injury bug and youth. I honestly think this year could be big for the new guy because of the talent in the rising sophomore and junior classes. I heard the JV did well, but that does not always translate. Overall, this is a great job.

Your right, even though it should be more about how well you can coach a kid, but building trust within the community is very important too. It might get a few more kids out than someone who doesn’t make the extra effort

I heard there are over 30 applicants. A lot of internal applicants, as well as at least one coach from almost every county school.

I wonder how many of them have no experience outside of their Madden franchise…which, amazingly, has been put on an application for at least one local school.

It was probably 7-8 years ago, I was talking to an AD and asked how the coaching search was going. The AD gave me 3-4 solid resumes and then broke that one out as a capper on all of it  I think the positive for our area is that that “coach” was from Columbus and not from our area.

They have had no social media for this program for years, it means alot to the players and community! All the great programs have this!
facebook is the most importantly part of any coaching job
That's always a problem. I don't know what his current status is.

He got an OVI last weekend and was already on "probation" with the school due to a lack of performance.

Well, that’s not gonna move the chains far on the coaching search.

They started interviews this week and that happened last weekend, so it has not.
