This Ironton offense is one of the best I’ve seen if not the best. So many weapons and then they have a superstar. It’s been pretty much unstoppable. That means the coaches can be super aggressive on defense. They know that their offense can strike at any moment.

This is the year for Ironton to get it done. I think they walk this week unless something weird happens. I’ve seen south range play and they are good enough to beat Ironton but they will be underdogs. Not seen LC. I’m assuming the same. Underdogs.
You’re wrong , no area coaches live and breath it like Pendleton, none of them.
No I am right. They put in a lot of time. I’ve talked to several. But most of them are dads and family men and teachers. Pendleton has a unique situation where he’s young and doesn’t have the encumbrances that the other area coaches do.

This is exactly what I’m talking about. The disrespect of local teams. It’s why we fail to win multiple championships in this area. The MAC schools fans and coaches always talk highly of each other and respect the game.

You are fooling yourself if you think Wheelersburg football training program is anything like Ironton has.

This is ridiculous:

First, you have zero idea if that’s true. You cannot honestly say how hard other coaches work. Saying Pendleton works hard is fair, saying he works harder than others is your opinion with zero evidence.

Second, he’s the athletic director. Are you saying Ironton’s athletic director only focuses on football and cares little for the other sports? I’ve been told that by some in Ironton but do not know.

Third, who has the harder job? The IHS football coach, the Burg football coach, or the Northwest head coach? The Northwest head coach by a mile. He doesn’t have any of the already existing benefits that the coaches at Burg and Ironton inherited. Plus, given the programs past history, he’s working incredibly hard just to get kids out for the team. Something IHS and Burg never experience.

Pendleton has done a great job reviving a program that was lost, but it was a program that could be revived. He goes to a smaller school without Ironton’s history, he would have to work 3x harder just to get 1/3 the results.

If Pendleton walked into Wheelersburg locker room as the new head coach , I guarantee attitudes would change , and the following workouts would be the hardest those boys have ever done. Give the man credit , I know first hand what our boys go though and it’s harder than anyone else in the area.

LOL, once again they couldn't beat Kirtland on 2 different occasions and Kirtland put a running clock on them and ML shuts down Kirtland last time in state championship game. Ironton rolls up on South Range and South Range embarrasses them with running the ball, passing the ball complete LOS domination just like ML would. I have NO idea what you're trying to accomplish by talking about something that means nothing and can't be proven just know you're so freaking wrong and the numbers at least with what we can actually gauge prove it. Just stop it's embarrassing. Let me know when Ironton can win 60 plus games in a row, going to be what 15 state titles since 2001, ML is in the the hardest division top to bottom in the state as evident by having 4/5 different teams in the regional finals game. Heck one year they either won or played in DV-DVI-DVII state championship game, you're so far in left field you're out of the stadium at this point.

No one is not giving him credit. The results are obvious. But saying other coaches don’t work their kids to be the best athletes they can be is insulting. Heck burg brings the national guard in every year for a boot camp week. RBH23 is right. Pendleton couldn't walk into northwest and get the same results. Would he make them better? Absolutely but right now he has a juggernaut of a team based on home talent and some transfers.

Oh good grief you have no idea what you are talking about.

Swap rosters, and Pendleton’s team gets thumped regardless of how many hours he puts in. Ironton has D1 talent that no D5 school in Ohio has ever possessed. That’s why they are winning. That and an OC who knows how to plan and run an offense.

That’s a fair opinion for a comment but my point was Pendleton is working with a loaded deck. He’s got the Ferrari this year. All he has to do is keep it tuned up. I mean how many coaches would love to have Terry on their team? Schreck? Johnson? A senior d and o line? I mean I’m sure coach is glad baker, roach, terry, copas, sturgill, and Jenkins decided to come to play. I don’t think he’s upset about it. This is the year for the tigers. Why belittle other teams in the area?

You seem to have forgotten that the current Burg coaching staff has won a state title and a number of regional titles without a single D1 player.

When has Pendleton taken IHS to a regional title and state title without D1 talent?

Because it's been almost 40 YEARS since they didn't choke in a championship game, because Burg won one this century, because Burg has the SAME amount of titles as them and that is the reason they live rent free in his head. I hope Ironton wins it all this year and am rooting for them as a fan of SEO kids but a few of these fans make it tough.

There has been plenty of Pirates the last 5-6 years who should’ve played D1 , too bad their coaches didn’t know how to get em there

Pendleton set his program up, some players saw what it was and decided they want that. He also takes his homegrown talent and develop them into very good football players. But spin it all up you want

Oh sure, Pendleton made Terry the athlete that he is. Had nothing to do with the fact that Terry came from the same bloodline as OJ Mayo. 🤦‍♂️

Put this into perspective: take every state title team that Kirtland and ML have produced. All of those teams combined have less D1 talent than this year’s IHS team!!

No there hasn’t been. In the history of Burg football, only one player has played power 5 football at the college level. Burg simply doesn’t have kids at that talent level in football.

Actually few small schools produce D1 athletes. Kirtland produces nearly zero! Same for Marion Local.

Of the teams remaining in D5, only IHS has D1 athletes.

Pendleton set his program up, some players saw what it was and decided they want that. He also takes his homegrown talent and develop them into very good football players. But spin it all up you want
Oh sure, Pendleton made Terry the athlete that he is. Had nothing to do with the fact that Terry came from the same bloodline as OJ Mayo. 🤦‍♂️

Put this into perspective: take every state title team that Kirtland and ML have produced. All of those teams combined have less D1 talent than this year’s IHS team!!

You don’t think a coach who played at the highest levels of college football couldn’t show a young elite athlete what it takes to get there ? You’re not very smart.

You seem to have forgotten that the current Burg coaching staff has won a state title and a number of regional titles without a single D1 player.

When has Pendleton taken IHS to a regional title and state title without D1 talent?
There has been plenty of Pirates the last 5-6 years who should’ve played D1 , too bad their coaches didn’t know how to get em there
No there hasn’t been.

Talk about not knowing how to develop players , sheesh. You’re doing a great job of recruiting for Ironton.

To get to that level, the kid better have already won the genetic lottery.

A relative of mine lives in Ft Meyers Florida. He had two boys that he coached in pee-wee football. One of the teams he coached dominated the league and only lost one game. Why did they lose one game? Because his star running back, Deion Sanders, was out sick with the flu. He said Deion at 11 was faster than many 15 year olds. Was averaging over 20 yards a carry. The playbook? Give the ball to Deion.

Now was my relative a great coach? Absolutely not. Barely knew the game. He just knew “give the ball to Deion.”

Gotta ask: have you ever played competitive football, basketball, baseball…? You seem clueless about the benefits of talent and how that talent comes at birth.
