That’s reality.

Seriously, do any of you IHS fans have access to what’s going on behind the scenes?
I do. Everyone is wondering why Wheelersburg wants to change something that has gone on for 30+ years? That’s the question being asked “behind the scenes” at Ironton.

Does anyone behind the scenes at Burg know that answer?
I explained why. Those at Burg view Pendleton just like Ashland does. Believe that Pendleton is recruiting and will continue to do so.

Not saying this to restart the recruiting debate, just sharing what many believe to be true.
Burg played Harvest Prep? Have you seen their competitive balance? That seems fairly hypocritical of those Burg folks.

It’s official , Pendleton has broken the Pirates will to even keep fighting . Run then coward.

Oh here we are Reaching further because you have nothing to say about Football on a Football thread

We went from Ironton's Financial situation, to now our schooling

It does not change the fact that softburg got 90 hung on them this year

Softburg isnt a good program and I been saying this over and over. Burg was NEVER a rival. I look at softburg the EXACT same way I viewed softburg in 89. They wanna be Irontons lil mini me in football sooooo bad they can taste it. But factually speaking they are just Fairland in Irontons school colors. They had a very TINY window of relevance when Irontons program was transitioning post Bob Lutz, and thats it and thats all. Burg is a mediocre program that has ONLY made it beyond their region 4 times in over THREE darn DECADES. Their is nothing special about beating up on a buncha slow, fluffy, unathletic quiz bowl contestants anymore.

1 & 16 vs Ironton Jackson & Prep
Have only made it beyond the region 4 times in over THREE DECADES.
Got embarrassed and Mercy Ruled not once but TWICE by Ironton in the same season to a combined total of 92 to 7.
Only two lonely titles it took them their entire program history to get.
Burg is just a mediocre program.

Martinburg would be a good game to replace SOFTburg with. Martinsburg would beat softburg like a drum and have a much higher ceiling and commitment to excellence. Softburg is just a flimsy little glorified OVC school. They can no longer challenge Ironton consistenly. I say drop softburg and pick up an opponent with some heart.

Similarly to burg football "talent" burgs self professed academic excellence doesnt translate at the collegiate level because the average median income in Wheelersburg is around 64,000.00. which is classic poverty line peanut wages. Burg isnt committed to anything but mediocrity in real life. The only place they get gassed up for anything is on seops. Lol. If i ever average 65k a year id jump off a bridge. Lmao

Burgs population is decreasing by over 2%
And most of their residents are completely reliant on jobs and industry outside of burg. Its all gas. Lol

D5 State Champion
A look back at the historical season.
1. Senior Class finishes as the winningest class in Ironton High School history at 52-6 overall.
2. The Fighting Tigers played arguably the toughest schedule in D5 and had 13 Running Clock games.
3. 2024 team scored 761 points during the season which places them 4th ALL-TIME in OHSAA history for points scored in a season.
4. 761 points sets the OHSAA record for Points ALL-TIME in D5.
5. The Fighting Tigers defeated Portsmouth and Wheelersburg by the LARGEST margin of victory in the history of those respected rivalries.
6. Irontons made its 40th State Playoff appearance this season which is #1 in OHSAA history. The Tigers also won their 15th Regional Title and 3rd State Championship.
7. Ironton out scored its opponents 761-183 throughout the season. That's a 578 point differential.
8. The Fighting Tigers only punted 6 times the ENTIRE Season.
9. Irontons defense had 25 takeaways during the season.
7 of them were returned for TDs.
10. The Fighting Tigers finished #192 in the entire country according to maxpreps

Comparing SOFTburg to Ironton is ridiculous. Case and point. Burg doesnt match up. They are a middle of the pack mediocre program AT BEST.

Couple things to consider:

One, HP is a private school which allows them to recruit. Fair or not, that is the rule.

Second, CB only tells part of the story. Kids that move into the district do not count against the CB #. That has benefited Ironton with a number of kids that have moved into the district.

Again, not trying to reopen the recruiting debate. Just sharing what others are thinking.

Median income means nothing unless compared to cost of living. It’s not how much you make, it’s purchasing power that matters. Let me guess, you are weak in economics and math as well?

I recommend you let Pendleton know that. He’s the one trying to hold onto this game.

Of course he has to deal with the reality of finances and filling a schedule, you don’t.
Why would Wheelersburg ever want to drop Ironton , that’s insane
From a dollars perspective, I agree.

However, many at Burg have the same feelings about Pendleton that Ashland and the OVC schools do. Regardless if the recruiting is true or not, many in power believe it to be so and want IHS off the schedule. Others at Burg want the game to be played, but those numbers seem to be shrinking.

Will be very interesting to see how this plays out.
How many players have Burg recruited or enticed from other Scioto Co schools over the past 25 years? One burg poster, Yabbadabbado, asked to name one. A few Minford posters came on and named 15-20 players, some only basketball, that burg immediately plugged in as starters. One poster named 3 football players came from Minford in one year and were starters, but yet the finger-pointing from burg continues. A West poster named a few that came from the Senator program. Another poster named several basketball players from both Minford and S. Webster. It is very hypocritical for burg posters to point fingers at Ironton and accuse them of recruiting when burg has been guilty of this for decades. The burg posters need to look in the mirror and stop their sanctimonious BS.

Although, it doesn't surprise me that ppl in burg feel this way b/c it's just SO much different when burg does it, just b/c they're so much better and the rules don't apply to them. Ironton just got better at enticing kids to want to transfer to their program and now all we hear is burg posters crying b/c they just got brought back down to earth. Burg posters need to get over themselves and go take a hard look in the mirror.

Burgs fanbase is so desperate. As soon as Ironton beats the breaks outta them they are on here whining about their academics and softball team. Lmao..its ironic how burg is the only seo program in recent history that was basically caught cheating and stealing sideline signals just a few years back but according to their fan base they are a 100% homegrown above reproach program.

Theyre also the program Ironton MERCY RULES AT WILL. LOL

I still remember the sign stealing burg got caught doing just handful of seasons ago and weaseled out of any accountability because the victim of the immoral conduct elected not to waste resources litigating it. Burg projects corruption onto others because burgs program is corrupt and on top of that get mediocre results anyway.

I think at this point ironton does not need to recruit the kids see the exposure and college trips, playing in the post season, kids are coming there because of that. Get coaches to expose what kids they have and maybe they will stay. Who cares college kids go to multiple schools now, I’m a Portsmouth fan and our basketball team has numerous transfers and none says anything is that because we don’t make runs in the postseason? All I read is the 2 schools mentioned. I read for a long time ironton needs to drop teams and find better competition and they did that, now I read schools are wanting to pull out from playing them. Does that help your team get better. I give huge props to Gallia 0-8 and still showed up and played them. Transfers is part of it now. Irontons transfer running back quit this year because he didn’t play.

Those numbers are hilarious and completely wrong. Burg hasn’t had 20-25 transfer-ins in the history of the program! Let alone from Minford.

One, people forget Burg was the last school in the area to open their borders. For the longest time, Burg’s CB would have been zero!

Second, let’s talk actual numbers instead of your hyperbole. Current CB numbers:
- Minford: 10
- Burg: 13 (Burg also had zero move-ins)

Yep, Burg is really raiding Minford. LOL!!
