The Ironton Gridiron Classic – Ohio vs. USA – Schedule Saturday, September 10th, 2022.
2 P.M. – Archbishop Moeller (Ohio) vs. Good Counsel (Maryland)

5 P.M. – Benedictine (Ohio) vs. DeMatha (Maryland)

8 P.M. – Johnson Central (Kentucky) at Ironton (Ohio)

i'm so happy that ironton has continued these games. and the idea was a great one. cincy moeller loves it there. you can't beat it for ambience and tradition. a covered home stadium. a new set of school buildings, tiger alley, new score board, the turf. the old style press box. the addition of the play clocks on each end. the old pro locker rooms that so many legends were in. the big seating capacity. it's a great away trip for visiting teams. and they put the spread on for these teams. i think it's a great addition to the ironton area, and ironton football. i'm assuming that coach pendleton came up with the idea. but i have no idea. but what his staff is doing is amazing. and with trevon being the ad. you have some young fresh minds in there. and they are making the absolute most of it. and all the recent trips to state games screams what they are doing is working. and this year was amazing. and with the classic old school feeling, and tradition of the program makes it in my opinion a great tradition that i hope continues for years to come, YTB.

I'm hearing they have Ironton/Watterson/St. Eds/ locked in and they are finalizing the out of state teams to play them.

that's awesome. my friend robert a. fada. who used to be a pro football players for the bears and chiefs. he had a sons that played for the buckeyes. but 1st they played for bishop watterson. so one year ironton was playing bishop watterson at ironton. i called him and we hooked up. i sat with him, his wife, his youngest son on the watterson side. he absolutely loved the old stadium feel. we walked down tiger alley, and he loved that ironton had a covered home side. we had a great time together. and we talked about the ironton tanks. that was a great memory. for those not sure who he is. he was number 64 for the chicago bears on that 85 team that won the superbowl. but as fate had it, he was traded to the chiefs like 3 weeks before the superbowl. he is a world famous orthopedic surgeon in columbus. he replaced both of my knees. at the time another former all pro player was my friend. ironton's coy bacon. coy and i were sitting together at an ironton game. and he asked me who replaced my knees. and i turned him onto bob fada, and bob had his replaced coy's knees. they remembered playing against each other years ago. YTB.

This is like a smaller version of the old Herbstreit Classic. That Moeller vs Mallard Creek game last year was a classic from looking at the score. Good for Ironton for doing this and nice to see you back bait!
