Re: IRONTON'S OPEN DATES, SUGGESTIONS
While I am sure it would massage the egos in Tiger town to suggest Moeller or Marion Local, more realistic options would be Hurricane, Bridgeport, and Spring Valley out of WV. Kentucky would be Ashland and Johnson Central. Ohio would be Clinton Massie, Valley View, Wyoming, and Stubenville. Competitive games that would make you better for a playoff run. Competitive games for fan interest.

Very realistic hypothetical schedule.Good solid competition.Zahns Corner wrote: Sat Jan 18, 2025 1:26 pm While I am sure it would massage the egos in Tiger town to suggest Moeller or Marion Local, more realistic options would be Hurricane, Bridgeport, and Spring Valley out of WV. Bridgeport WV just filled their open week with Fort Hill MD, there were some talks of Ironton and Fort Hill playing till they all sorted out those dates. As for anyone else out of WV I don’t think Hurricane or Spring Valley would be that competitive, although it would be compared to how Cabell-Midland was this past season

I am familiar with the WV panhandles and its neighbors. Fort Hill, MD, Martinsburg, Spring Mill, and on occasion Fairmont, Morgantown, and Wheeling Park would offer Ironton reasonable competition .Jeaux Burreaux wrote: Sun Jan 19, 2025 6:42 pmZahns Corner wrote: Sat Jan 18, 2025 1:26 pm While I am sure it would massage the egos in Tiger town to suggest Moeller or Marion Local, more realistic options would be Hurricane, Bridgeport, and Spring Valley out of WV. The trick for Ironton is balance between competition to mold your team, travel (Fort Hill is 5 to 6 hours), and fan interest/revenue. We would all like to see Ironton continued success as it elevates all of SE Ohio HS football thru high standards, but Ironton also needs to remember too big too fast can set you back.

Re: IRONTON'S OPEN DATES, SUGGESTIONS
That’s the beauty of having an expanded playoff, play bigger schools and stiffer competition. Schedule Steubenville, Boyle County, Ky, and Martinsburg, WV. Another school that’s traditionally good that comes to mind is Clinton Massie. Who cares about seeding- Wheelersburg was regional runner-up at the 14 seed.
Contemplating all life choices and loyalties…

Re: IRONTON'S OPEN DATES, SUGGESTIONS
I was looking at schools with open dates on the OHSAA website and there are plenty of schools on there some big some small most wanting a 2 year contract.
I think Ironton will be fine.
May have to travel 2 hours or so but if the can convince those teams to come here it will great.
Only time will tell

i've always wanted to play them. but it would have to be at the big reds home. cause they refuse to travel.meatswinger wrote: Sat Jan 18, 2025 2:58 pmWould love to see Ironton playing Steubenville.Zahns Corner wrote: Sat Jan 18, 2025 1:26 pm While I am sure it would massage the egos in Tiger town to suggest Moeller or Marion Local, more realistic options would be Hurricane, Bridgeport, and Spring Valley out of WV. Re: IRONTON'S OPEN DATES, SUGGESTIONS
i'd like to get a chance for an attempt back at beechwood, ky. years ago they were in an awesome free for all at the tank. beechwood had just moved ahead by a few points. and lightning struck at transformer at ironton stadium, on the away side. ironton offered them a terribly reqarding offer to play the rest of the game on saturday, the following day. but they declined the offer. because it was considered a win in ky. if you are ahead and a game gets cancelled. it was a thrilling game, i remember that. seemed like one of those games that the last team to possess the ball would likely win.ytb.

Week 3 is Ironton v Archbishop McNicholas in Cincinnati. Pretty sure it will be a home and home 2 yr contract.
