Week 10: Portsmouth at Waverly
This is a big game for two teams...Ironton and Chesapeake. Enough 2nd level points for these two schools to make it into the playoffs with a Portsmouth upset.
Will Portsmouth show up and represent for their conference or is Waverly just too much for the Trojans?

Re: Week 10: Portsmouth at Waverly
This is a tough matchup, Waverly surprised me when they defeated Minford last week. But I think Portsmouth pulls a win late in a good back n forth battle! I got Portsmouth over Waverly 35-28.

Being at Waverly I give them the advantage in this game.

The Tigers are going to put it all together this week. You won't see a 4-5 team play harder all week...Trojans are in trouble!

well ironton fans need Portsmouth to win this one.and I are one of them. but living in waverly now. I'd like to see them win as well. it's weird being an ironton and a waverly tiger fan now. and needing a team to beat waverly to help ironton to get in the playoffs.

I understand Bait. I was born in Ironton, still have tons of family in that area (in fact I have a cousin who is starter for the Fighting Tigers), but my son is a Waverly Tiger (as was I). Like I said, I hate it that your hopes rest on us losing, but it's that time of year...no hard feelings!

For the record, Ironton CAN get into the playoffs without Portsmouth winning. They will need help from a school or two nobody has heard of, but a Portsmouth win over Waverly and an Ironton win over South Point would seal the deal, I believe.

I just saw that in another post Henry...thanks for the update...I'm glad they still have a chance even if we win.

Waverly will control this game. They have a decent line that will be the difference in the game

Valenth, Waverly beating Minford was no fluke and they should have beaten West. If, and if can be a very big two letter word, but if the Tigers come out and play the way they are capable of playing they shouldn't have any trouble with the Trojans. Senior night on the new turf, Tigers finish 5-5.

I can't believe how far ironton program has fallen the past few years. Never would of thought I would see them hoping to get into the playoffs on another teams back. There are a whole lot of issues going on with that program. I think it's obvious that it's time ironton stopped looking behind and start looking forward. It's awesome that have a rich history, but it's just that.. History. I really hope they turn it around..... Or all we will ever hear about ironton will be " remember when's "... Obviously!

Re: Week 10: Portsmouth at Waverly
Here is a look at these two teams common opponents this year. Portsmouth is 1-2 and Waverly is 0-3
Portsmouth / Valley (0-33) L
Portsmouth / Portsmouth West (18-13) W
Portsmouth / Wheelersburg (0-42) L
Waverly / Valley (14-35) L
Waverly / Wheelersburg (3-56) L
Waverly / Portsmouth West (29-32) L
If the Portsmouth Defense plays well like the Portsmouth West game, then the Trojans could pull off the upset. Although, looking at the scores, if this game comes down to a field goal, the odds favor Waverly.

Trojans Until they get stronger and different coaching personnel excluding ad but the same old staff things will continue to be dismal. Look around same staff same results. Anyone outside program and inside can see it.
