Belpre Eagles 2008 team

The Eagles have to replace quarterback RJ Walker, fullback Bryan Walker, two offensive lineman in Mike Johnson and Zach Kress, Tailback Mike Waderker, who him and bryan walker also played linebacker, and RJ also played CB, and Kyle Hamrick at safety.

at quarterback its a battle between junior Mark Tate and sophomore Clay Ullman, Tate who played receiver and earned all-area as a freshman at receiver and did not play his sophomore year. He has a lot of potential and could go a long way, Clay has little experience on the varsity football field but could surprise the coaches this summer

At tailback the Eagles are set with senior Ashton Packard, he proved that the eagles wouldnt lose a beat without waderker when he went down with a knee injury, the eagles also have sophomore tyler watkins who got a few carries last season as a freshman and he should spell packard.

at fullback the eagles will have sean haverty, a senior who will also play linebacker, he saw limited time on offense last season but really came along at the end of the season at linebacker, tyler watkins could also spell haverty.

at receiver the eagles will have 2 seniors Ryan Yates and John Logue and a sophomore Erik Waderker, and maybe junior mark tate. That would be a good combination of speed, power and quickness.

the offensive line could be a question again.


On the defensive side of the ball, belpre is looking strong again. Tyler Carr is a beast at DE and Wes Radabaugh is a beast at DT, radabaugh will hold this team together defensively. At linebacker the eagles will have a pair of seniors, Ashton Packard, who led the team in tackles last year and Sean Haverty, a junior in Wes Brannon and a sophomore in Tyler Watkins.

The secondary is loaded with talent and experience. Erik Waderker, Ryan Yates, John Logue and Mark Tate will all battle for positions.

Last seasons success will translate to more kids comming out for football. I've heard numbers in the 50's. That would be great if we could field a jv team.

Belpre will be very good again. Their coach did an outstanding job last year and with the athletes they have, they should be very good again. All in all, I feel that the TVC will be pretty competitive with Nelsonville being the favorite until someone knocks them off with Boston, Arnold, Barrick and company.

If NY wants the TVC title they have to come through Belpre to get it. Returning TVC Ohio Defensive POY Ashton Packard, along with Wes Radabaugh and Tyler Carr will give Belpre an outstanding defense. If the Eagles can find a new QB and along the way find some offense, I see a posible 8-2 season.

The quarterback position will be solid, with junior Mark Tate finally getting a chance to show off his talents both running and passing, and a strong backup, sophomore clay Almond. The O-line, Carr, Radabaugh, Brannon, Azar, Haverty, Barret, Dixon, will be better than last year, and with Tate, Packard, Watkins, and Eric Waderker running the football, and the kicking game, one of the best in the conference, Belpre will be hard to beat. Go Eagles.

senior scott loyland will be playing football this year. he is very atheletic and will play wide receiver and safety. reggie sims ia also coming back this year. belpre has somewhere around 50 boys coming out for the team this season. that 2x more than last season. i think this bunch might go 8-2 or 9-1

there will be a few good teams in the tvc this year, i think it will be a hard fought chamionship this year!! But dont forget bout V.C. we lost a lot of seniors, but we will have between 8 and 15 seniors this year, and we all are working very hard right now, and we have a completely different offince this year! so GO VIKES!

Good luck to the Eagles this year they should have a very nice team, and I am glad to hear the numbers are coming back up. It was very strange to me having played in the late 80's to see Belpre struggle with their turnout. I am also excited to see this years Buckeyes playing to win the championship instead of defending it. Should be a great game this year
