I thought last year Cody Huff could've been a 1500 yard back...but of course Smith was much deserving of many carries.

IF ( hopefully no kiss of death here) Huff can stay mostly healthy AND his line is solid...AND there is some (either) a passing threat or another possible running threat (QB).....Huff could be the POY in the South.

His running reminds me a bit of his coach.

I would LOVE to see the Rockets return to Victory lane over Jackson, but i believe the MOB will have to be involved for that to happen.

I'll predict Jackson 35- Wellston 12. However, this may change after the scrimmage Friday. I hope to make it to the scrimmage and opener. 8)

I think Jackson will keep that pimp hand strong in this one. I say 2 scores, minimum. ;-)

The scrimmages for both teams are now over. Wellston is much improved from last year and has a nice set of skill players that could be very dangerous next Saturday night. Jackson has some work to do this week to get ready for the opener, but I'm confident that they'll be ready to go against their arch rival next weekend. If the Jackson offensive line and defensive lines come together well, they should be a pretty good football team this year.

I'm still picking the Ironmen to walk out of C.H. Jones Field with their streak against the Rockets intact.

Didn't Mantell and Wolford have a little"tiff" following last year's game. Hmmmm.....this game could turn into to a battle, or a blowout.

Don't get me wrong....I like both of them, they're both class people. Sometimes, though, competitive spirits "take over" and pay-backs are hard on the loosing team.

Hope its a great game. I'm guessing neither team will lack for passion Saturday.

Keyser_soze78 wrote:NYBuckeye96....The number one reason this game is played is the $$$$$$$$$$ from the gate. Too much for either school to pass up.

And, since it's at Wellston this year and on a Saturday night, that means even more $$$$$$$$$$$.

BTW, for those counting, the streak is at 17 for Jackson over Wellston.

Will it continue, or will this — as is repeated in Wellston on annual basis — be the year that the streak is snapped?

what was the last season the rockets beat the ironmen? for some reason i thought it was '88

No pot-stirring Boilermaker, I just know these two communites need a little "material" to get charged up for this game.
