Belpre Eagles Football 2008
Belpre Eagles Football 2008
The Eagles have to replace RJ Walker, Bryan Walker, Mike Johnson, Zach Kress, Mike Waderker and Kyle Hamrick.
With the above mentioned losses I don't think Belpre defensive unit will be as strong as last season but the on the offensive side of the ball they may be much better than last season.
The line should be really good as the sophomores and juniors from last season, Radabaugh, Pinkerton, Carr, Dickson, Brannon will now be juniors and seniors. With the return of Sims (a starter as a freshman) that gives the line debth as well as talent.
In the Walkers both RJ and Bryan, Belpre losses two very good kids. Good fundamentals and hard workers. Their likely replacements Tate and Watkins, both highly talented athletes and HR Hitters but lack the experince that the Walkers possesed.
The bigest hole to fill will be that of Mike Waderker. The heart and soul of the TVC's best defensive unit. Waderker played unselfishly all year, sacrificed personel goals for the good of the team and led his team to the TVC Championship and Playoff appearence. Any team will be lucky to get a kid like that at the next level.
Mike we will miss seeing "#30 DO HIS THING"

Re: Belpre Eagles Football 2008
Sims isnt planning on playing on the line is he?..He's lost a lot of weight since his freshman year, the kid looks like a reciever now haha..which has probably done some good on the hardwood, but he'll get eaten alive playing line against any team with some decent size guys.
Should be an interesting year for the Eagles with some new faces stepping in at very key positions.
I agree that Waderker is not going to be "replaced" by anyone in this entire system, he was a heck of a player and a terror for opposing offenses....btw eagles20, any idea on what Mike's doing after graduation...just curious because I'm not home that often and havent heard anything about what he might do..thanks.

Ohio Northern or maybe Mount Union. Wherever he decides to go That school is getting a quality kid.

Tough schedule but I think if they can get some offense together by the Trimble game and find a way to win in Glouster then Belpre could have a dandy season. The trimble game will tell a lot about this team. This will be a tuff road trip not one two many Belpre teams have taken in the past.

I am going to say 5-5 , this is just what I think by looking at their schedule.

Belpre has been working hard in the weight room and also doing well in the passing scrimmages. The team looks as if we may have some debth this year if the injury bug comes calling.

Re: Belpre Eagles Football 2008
Just A Fan, In the paper Coach Shriver said 63 signed up but his goal is at least getting 45 people to play an there looking at a full jv schedule also. I predict Belpre will go 6-4 possibly 7-3. I have heard Radabaugh can't play and I'm pretty sure Sims went to PHS. Not for sure though but we will see I guess. Belpre should have alot of nice players though an have a great season, alot of amazing seniors have left though an cant be replaced but we should be alright. If the kids buy into Coach Shrivers strategy then we will do excellent, he is a great coach, all you need now is coachable kids to play.

Re: Belpre Eagles Football 2008
The outlook for Belpre this year is very good. Belpre is still rolling with some momentum from last year. A lot of kids from last year got some good and well needed experience. Belpre lost some kids from every level last year but the kids that are filling those spots are well prepared. Belpre should not be to hurt by these losses.
Some players to watch for this year are as follows: Erik Waderker, even though he is a sophomore he got of playing time as a freshmen. He is very aggressive DB thats not afraid to play ball with the big dogs. The next players is Tyler Watkins, I believe he can come in and fill Waderkers spot at linebacker just enough to help Packard, he also had a lot of plaiyng time last year. Also he will help the offense out by his flexibilty to play anywhere in the backfield. Last but not least Watkins leg (kicking) was the desciding factor in a few games last year, that will be very helpful again this year. Another key player might be Clay Ullman. He didn't get to take many snaps last year, but from what I have been told by Coach Shriver is that Clay is maturing into the QB role and has looked very well during the passing scrimmages. These Sophomores that were just listed need to step up this year and be leaders because not to many seasons ago a group of sophomores had to help lead their team. Those sophomores were Seniors last season. Junior key players are as follows: Brad Barrett, Markie Tate, and Tyler Carr. Barrett has shown great maturity in last few years. He will be very helpful on the O-line this year. Brad is a very smart kid and thats what you need on the o-line. Tate is a very versitile player. He can play any of the skill positions. I believe Tate will make a better WR though because he is tall, fast, he can jump, and the most important thing is that he has soft hands. Tyler Carr will also help lead the o-line this year. He is also another smart linemen. He should have breakout year.
The Seniors to watch for are as follows: John Logue, Ryan Yates, and the spotlight king Ashton Packard.
Logue will be a leader this year will get the team motivated. He will very useful in Belpres Secondary. Yates has been very unconsistent in the past few years, but when he puts everything togehter his a very good WR. That is why I think the 6'3'' Senior this year will be very effective in Belpres passing game this year. Yates has it all height, speed, hops, and hands. If you puts everything together this year he will be a standout. Packard will need to be the team leader this year. Also he will need to be a motivator. Packard will have another standout year on defense and maybe even better because if Belpre has 45 kids he might get some rest on offense. Packard just might win the TVC defensive MVP again.
I have talked to Coach Shriver alot recently and hhe believes his team is ready to go and he cant wait for the season to start and he is also happy with the turn out of kids this year. Belpre will be ready come Warren.
My Prediction: Belpre will have a tough week 3 game with Trimble exspecially because its at Trimble. The TVC Ohio is always tough and theres always close games and teams are usually well matched. I believe Belpre with go 6-4 or 7-3.
Goodluck Guys I'll be cheering for ya.

Anyone know how Zanesville Bishop Rosecrans did last year, an also how they did in their first game.
