South Point AD
South Point has posted a vacancy for the Athletic Director's position.
Not sure why this is or what is going on with long-time AD Jan Keatley.
Any idea of who South Point's next AD will be?

Re: South Point AD
Wow a lot of people looking at this but nobody commenting.....I think it should go to a local South Point person in the system... not some transient here today gone tommorrow person... I would like to see Randy Smith be the new AD....Great coach, great person , the other coaches respect him and the kids love him. He is well known in the local , state and national Athletic community, and if SP wants to do the right thing, then this decision is a no brainer..... Randy Smith, AD......

I haven't seen it posted outside of the school district, but it's posted at the school.
I agree with abuck76. I had heard rumors that he could be the next AD. From what contact I've had with him, he does seem like a great person, and I know he is well-respected in the athletic community.

I'm surprised this topic hasn't generated more conversation. Perhaps people just aren't interested, or maybe they're not commenting because they don't know what exactly is going on. But I thought there'd be more comments about this.

SOUTH POINT — Randy Smith always wears his trademark straw hat during track season. Smith is wearing another hat these days.
Smith, the 30-year veteran as South Point’s track coach, will strap on a new hat after being hired as the new athletic director by the South Point Board of Education last week.
Smith replaces long-time athletic director Jan Keatley who resigned.
“I’ll see things from a different perspective,†said Smith. “People will be asking me for things instead of me asking for them.
“But as for going to the games, I got to most of the games in football and basketball for boys and girls.â€
Smith said one of his goals is to open a bigger line of communication with the community and get more interaction. He also wants to see an increase in participation among the students.
Besides the athletic activities and finances, Smith said sportsmanship is an issue.
“I want to push sportsmanship. I want the kids to observe the (Ohio High School Athletic Association) respect the game program,†said Smith.
