Again, welcome to SEOPs. It is very nice to know that there are people who unconditionally support the efforts of Coach Yates, his staff and the kids of Vinton County. However, to answer your question, the Vikings are 9-11 in Coach Yates's first two years. And I guess that the powers that be, more important people than you or I, deemed it necessary to support Coach Yates.

I agree that all is not well in Vinton County. Yates isn't the problem, though. They need to get him some better help.
The easiest thing in world to do is complain. The 2nd easiest thing to do is to pack up and leave!
I'm guessing, he got an extension because the school board believes in him and what he's trying to accomplish. They realize that the overall sprit of HS athletics aren't predicated by a self-centered platform of individuals, but moreover, the compellation of a team effort. Based on your short, but narrow-minded litany of posts thus far, you seem to think otherwise.....which is sad.
In term of his assistants, Randy......I'd guess that he'd be the first to admit that the staff he's been able to arrange isn't perfect, nonetheless they're hard-working and dedicated to the goals of the team.
I have no idea what Vinton County's record might be by season's end, but I'll guarantee you this......Coach Yates and his staff WILL work their tails off.
Best of luck to you and your agenda's.

I'm sure Coach Yates and his staff are working very hard in preparing the Vikings for the upcoming season. The media/photo day is this Wednesday, so I will get Coach Yates' perspective and outlook for his team.

Re: vc football prt 2
O Captain my Captain! our fearful trip is done;
The ship has weather’d every rack, the prize we sought is won;
The port is near, the bells I hear, the people all exulting,
While follow eyes the steady keel, the vessel grim and daring:
But O heart! heart! heart!
O the bleeding drops of red,
Where on the deck my Captain lies,
Fallen cold and dead.
O Captain! my Captain! rise up and hear the bells;
Rise up—for you the flag is flung—for you the bugle trills;
For you bouquets and ribbon’d wreaths—for you the shores a-crowding;
For you they call, the swaying mass, their eager faces turning;
Here Captain! dear father!
This arm beneath your head;
It is some dream that on the deck,
You’ve fallen cold and dead.
My Captain does not answer, his lips are pale and still;
My father does not feel my arm, he has no pulse nor will;
The ship is anchor’d safe and sound, its voyage closed and done;
From fearful trip, the victor ship, comes in with object won;
Exult, O shores, and ring, O bells!
But I, with mournful tread,
Walk the deck my Captain lies,
Fallen cold and dead.
---Walt Whitman
Captain, just when you thought you had me I went and pulled a dead poet on you. You own the rights to sarcasm and humor, I own the rights to tact, diplomacy and philosophy. Please leave the quoting to me, before you get hurt, it is a man's job.

You mean the smartest thing.
Wow, you're laying some more eggs there Randy.
If you own a dictionary and can use it , check out the meanings of the words "easy" and "smart." While both ultimately are subjective in context, there IS a difference. Although I respect our difference of opinions, you seem to continually contradict your platform based on the arguments presented.
First you want everything quiet, then you're throwing darts. Really, you're not very consistent.
There is a fine line between what we want and what is right...greed, passion, and love often interrupt that path.
I hope you can sort things out for the long-term betterment of your agenda.
Good Luck!

As for the scrimmage, the Vikings looked good at times. There were a lot of positives but there were just as many negatives, however, nothing that can't be fixed. I know Coach Yates and his staff and the kids are working very hard.
