Didn't everyone learn their lesson last year after the Pirates put the Tigers in their cage at the Fishbowl???? Sorry, I meant the tank!

Ironton must also be really worried this year about the Pirates since I heard the Tiger moms are trying to organize a prep ralley in downtown Ironton to show support. I have an idea for them.....they can also hold auditions for acting lessons at the same time! Just a thought :?: :?: :?: :?: :?: :?: :122246

I'm glad the burg fans are pumped up about this game as they get a shot at glory! I know this is a rivalry but come on ...........look at the record. You cant get too excited, everytime we hear the burg has some talent, they wont shut up about it until about 915 on the first game of the season, then they dont post so much! go tigers

Theres a lot of smack talk from the Burg fans which is surprising considering that out of 17 games played youve only won 4. I understand why you are talking smack though. That opportunity to brag about beating Ironton only comes around once every 5 or 6 years. So enjoy it till Friday night then you can go back to your old "Well Ironton creamed us again" selves.

Just wondering why ironton is boasting this team up. Has something changed other than its lutz 2nd year back? Not impressed by any scrimmages, just why you think you will win.

I only have one thing to say about lutz. He leaves for one year and the system they teach at Ironton for 30+ yrs just goes to the wayside? From HS all the way down to peewee? I never took the crap of Lutz departure worth a hill of beans. You dont lose that much last year for A coach to be gone one year. Now, if they had had 4 coaches in 12 years I could see that. Maybe Ironton is running out of talent and everyone else is coming into their own against them. I think the team that can run the ball and not turn it over will win. Good luck to both teams.

PS, I am not sold on Burg this year offensively either. Should be a dandy of misreads, misplays and great moments.

I think tl85 is right. Losing a coach can make a big diffeerence and make a team suck (just using his words). I will give you another example:

Ironton changed coaches in 2006 and finished 6-5 (actually 5-5) since victories over Canada don't count with me)

Ironton changed coaches again in 2007 and finished 5-5.

Good thing they did not change coaches agsain in 2008.

R U serious. Burg fans talking smack. Just on this page 8 alone, out of 35 post only 3 legitimate Burg fans actually picked the Burg to win and the rest of the post are from Ironton posters predicting an ironton blowout. Give me a friggin' break. You morons did the same crap last year and then once the game was over all you heard was crickets chirping in Ironton. Just like last year, hardly any Burg fans were saying anything about the Burg possibly winning big becasue a true Burg fan knows that this is one of the toughest games on the sched year in and year out. One thing I will say though and this is not being cocky or arrogant, Burg expects to win this game and every game they play everytime they step on the field. The majority of the time if you go into a game thinking you are going to lose, you more than likely will. Burg players never have that attitude going into any game in any sport.

The sad thing about this series is that it should be around 10-7 to 9-8 in favor of Ironton. Quite a few games over the last 4-6 years that could have swung the other way. Did they, no and the Burg won't fret over that. They will play this game like it is the first game in the series. Right now they have a one game winnig streak and this Friday they will be trying to make it two in a row. Will it happen. Nobody knows. Will just have to wait and see come Friday night at around 7:30pm.

^ A one game winning streak, who was that against? You wouldn't be talking about a scrimmage would you? Seeing after how Piketon waxed your butts and they don't count for anything according to some of your prior post.....

Wake up!!!!!!!!! Against Ironton they have a one game winning streak and once again, IT WAS A FRIGGIN' SCRIMMAGE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Get over it.

Let me explain it to you, I'll go real slow.

One team beats another team. At the start of the next year, the team that won has a one game winnig streak against the team they beat. Pretty simple.

This game will be a very close game all the way in my judgement. Conditioning may very well be the difference here. Very hot night. I can't really explain Ironton's dominance over the years of Wheelersburg. I will say that if Wheelersburg shows up like last year, they will be a very tough team to beat. Good luck to all and hopefully this will be an injury free game.

If the loss of one coach matters that much then those two teams werent that good anyways. Im not saying that a coach like Lutz or Ed Miller wouldnt help but big players make big plays in big games...not coaches

Oh OK, you mean one game winning streak against Ironton, well say that the next time, instead of one game winnig(sic) streak. Well, in just over 48 hours it will be a 1 game losing streak for your Birates.

Don't worry Burg, Coach W. will have the boys in fine condition. I think this could be the start of something special. You guys gained a great coach, after he gets a few years under his belt, watch out....
Good Luck from the French City
