Here's a little fun fact for everyone....

Does anyone know when Chesapeake last won this game..............

1999 and that was the year Chesapeake went 11-1 losing to State Champ that year in Amanda.

These games have been close a couple times over the past several yrs now, but Wayne always fine a way to pull off the win, so I all Wayne but I am pulling for the PEAKE.

This has been a long and honorable series; at first, Peake won, sometimes by a lopsided score. Then, Tommy Harmon became the Wayne head coach, & after going 0-10 his 1st year, Wayne turned it around, beating Peake in 2000 & every game since. payback time came occasionally in basketball season, with Peake scoring lopsided victories.

It will be much more of a game this time, I believe, but on paper, Wayne should win. (But that's why they play the games!) I believe Peake is ready to come outta its football doldrums & be a powerhouse again, beginning this year, & really step it up next year.

Just as Peake & Symmes Valley have had a long rivalry, with every game exciting despite Peake's long winning streak, I hope Peake & Wayne keep their series going "for the duration"!

Chesapeake fans may want to leave a little early. The West Virginia Department of Highways, in its wisdom, decided to repave 152 from German Ridge Hill to Rt. 75...beginning the week WV started back to HS and Marshall started back. Anyway, the paving is done, but they may line the road tomorrow. Just saying, allow yourself an extra 10 minutes or so to get through that area (or head across Spring Valley Drive and out 75 to avoid it all, even if it is a few extra miles).

You too derby...have a safe trip over!

Chesapeake-Wayne is about the friendliest long-term "rivalry" (I consider it because we've played for a long time now) you will find. Always hope the 'Peake goes 9-1.

Wayne 39 Chesy 21 This game wasn't very pretty to watch. Wayne is possibly the best team I've seen in this area for 5 years or so. Young Panthers keep your heads up.

That was pretty ugly but, wow, Wayne's got a tough team. And they've got numbers, too. They're at least twice the size of the peake.

wayne coulda won by much more, but with the game well in hand, Coach Harmon chose to play as many subs as he could...and so did Coach Davis. Wayne has several players who are faster than any Peaker, & Coach Harmon can play'em in platoons. The same Peake players faced fresh Wayne players throughout the whole 2nd half. Wayne's bench takes up half the sideline!

Coach Davis has to be encouraged by the play of his reserve players, as they scored two of peake's TDs, & Peake's placekicking was 1 for 1. They also blocked 3 Wayne EP kix.(Best way to block'em is to prevent the TD, but, oh, well...)Time to be preparing for Symmes Valley next week, as they're always tough, & wanna end the 17-year losing streak to Peake.

Thanx! You mighta noticed several Peake shirts or jackets at Wayne's home playoff games the last few years. One of the shirts had me inside it. When Peake & the other locals were outta the playoffs, some of us came to root for Wayne, which is still local for us. I saw wayne's loss to Weirton, the eventual state champs, & Wayne's gutsy win over Grafton. Hope you guys take another WV title this year! (BTW, Derby is my oldest son)
