i think the spotlight is on all teams in the SOCII. okay, okay.
I think Brickers absence is a big misfortune to the siders and im not sure of the situation. It always feels better to beat a team if they have all their players; just because you feel like you beat the whole time.

Actually WS1993, I'm originally from the West side, born and raised there, and have no hate for West. Actually not sure where you came up with I hated them. No I have not seen West play this year. As I said West has the most talented team in the SOC 2, but that is on paper. 10 games must be played before the SOC champion is crowned. This week will be a good test for the West D as to where they stand. I just think that SP can move the ball on West's defense. We will know more by tomorrow.
I played football at West in the first Tipton years. I always like to see them do well. I just hate the discipline problems that have developed over the years. Poor attitudes as well. Not like that when I grew up and played there.
So don't be too fast to judge someone on this forum and take my comments out of context.

and you question why everyone outside Carey's run thinks the west fans are going over board there magnimous , ginormous 2-0 start ? as has been said a 100 times already , we will see how weeks 7-10 go. Either way they are going to have a pretty solid season

To buldog,
You played at West and now route for the Burg? I hope there are extreme circumstances for that. By the way I also played under Tipton his first time around. I started on that 90' team that went 10-1 with the loss to Ironton in the playoffs. So trust me I know all to well the changes at West. But one thing never changes it is still West regardless. Coaches change, players change ,new schools are built, but us TRUE West "SIDERS" never quit routing for our boys. It really sickens me that people jump on the Westside about kids getting into trouble. Every school has it's fair share. When someone from West gets into trouble it is always blown up. If a kid gets in trouble then he should be punished by the school, Coach, and most importantly the parents. From what I have seen the last 20 years footbal has changed completely in Scioto County as far as the way it is coached and played. We used to line up nothing fancy in the power I and bring it at you. As far as conditioning goes the teams of the 70s, 80s, and early 90s would beat the teams of today in the ground. They may have fancy Offenses' and jump out to a lead, but by the fourth quarter they would be wore down. I see a bit of that type of Offense in this West team. Those (backs) run as hard as I have ever seen a group run. If they continue to pound 3 and 4 yards a pop nobody will score on them because the other teams won't have enough clock to do it in. Ground and pound baby. Westside

I have seen a lot of football but I have never seen a coach have to call a timeout because his players were fighting each other during a game. I don't think I have ever seen a team lose their composure to the extent west did in the state championship game on such a big stage like west did. I don't think I have ever heard of a highschool player having to be escorted out of a jr high football game.

I am not sold on the west siders yet. I think this game could go either way.I would not be surprised that the OVC team could walk away with the W. I hope both teams are injury free and I think this game could surprise some people.
Re: WK 3 (2-0) Portsmouth West at (0-2) South Point
fbnut...why in the world are you saying this poop?? We know that all schools have a few kids and parents that that cause trouble. I know for a FACT about the kids at the Burg and some of the crap they do but its not posted on here.
How about stop trying to stir crap with the kids and parents from the west side and stay on the burgs thread if you don't have anything nice to say. Didn't your mama teach you anything?? These are kids for gods sake!
Also, why can't you give the new coach a few games to get the program going. IMHO, I think he has had a lot of disicpline since taking the helm

First off I didn't mention any kid by name. second, your not getting it, that kind of stuff doesn't happen other places. You can blow it off and try to justify it by saying it does but it doesn't.
Re: WK 3 (2-0) Portsmouth West at (0-2) South Point
28-6 West in the 4th. West has to be considered the frontrunners. Burg up 28-0 in late 4th. 2nds in and give up 85yd kick return for TD. 28-6. But the way West played tonight (given that SP hasnt seen West though) ,West has to be considered the front for the SOC2. Games with Waverly and Minford will be huge for both teams.

West's Defense is really good. This is no accident. West is just gonna shut most teams down. West needs to stay focused and not let themselves get the big head. Go up to South Point and take car of business. This could be a big point game for West.
thats what i'm talkin about!!!!
Re: WK 3 (2-0) Portsmouth West at (0-2) South Point
Gutsy performance tonight by West. Southpoint is a very good team. We weren't ready to play with Morgan as QB because he hasn't practiced much at all and his arm is still not there yet. We didn't complete a pass and they stacked the box all night on us and we still rushed for big yards. Swords 4td's and 200 plus yards. Pendelton had a good game also. Impressive against a really good team.
We'll have Bricker and Morgan back next week. The next 3 games should be alot easier (Rock Hill, Chesapeake, and Northwest) so we can work on the offense a little and really get things going.
