Jackson 27 - Vinton County 0 - Final

Solid win for the Ironmen tonight. Kind of a sloppy effort, but I'm not gonna complain about a 27-0 win. Jackson got it done through the air tonight...Brown to Trace for a couple long TDs. Vinton County stacked the box with 9 and 10 guys all night, which made it tough for the Ironmen to get the ground game going. The quick 14-0 lead for Jackson almost seemed like a bad thing as well...not a whole lot of intensity after that.

SEOAL play starts next week and the Ironmen need to hang on to the football if they expect to get wins from here on out. Jackson is looking pretty tough defensively. If they can continue that and get the effort offensively that they got at Waverly, I think they should be just fine.

Congrats to the Ironmen. Now get ready for SEOAL play!

Viking96,

I agree. Good effort by VC tonight. They got down early and could have quit, but they didn't. They battled hard and played pretty well defensively after the first quarter. Vinton County should do well in the TVC this season, in my opinion.

That's what it sounded like they were doing as I was listening on the net. Also sounded like Jackson made the necessary adjustments and got things done in the air. Time to tear into the teeth of the SEOAL. Good luck Ironmen.

27-0 is the result and yes it certainly could've/should've been worse...but props to VC for playing the hearts out. Their coaches seems excited about many things happening on the field so hopefully they are improving and best of luck to them!

I will continue to say that good things happen when it goes to Trace.

And Lindamood....man he's gotten a lot faster and looks exceptionally fast on the field turf.....that will be very handy down the road.

Josh Brown ran very tough tonight........take care of the ball, but I liked what I saw from his running demeanor.

Can't turn the ball over that much vs Gallipolis, Ironton, Chilly and Portsmouth......those are 4 make or break games....take care of it!

So far...GREAT start!

By my count three big plays for the Jackson Ironmen. A 54 and 62 yard pass plays and fumble snap that set up the Ironmen at the Vikings 4 yard line, that resulted in 3 scores. So maybe it could have been 7-0.

The Vikings are improving each week, and yes, they are young and they are learning. Those big plays are the result of youth and they will learn from it.

Good Luck to the Ironmen.

How are the big pass plays part of this? They were well executed plays.

Getting up 14-0 very quickly and then fumbling multiple times was my point.....but I also gave credit to VC as they played very hard all night and some good things happened.

From my viewpoint and after watching the Ironmen play flawlessly last week with turnovers I thought the Ironmen should've had 28 points at halftime.

If you want to counter and truely believe it could've easily been 7-0 then fine......we'll let that be your viewpoint.

Good Luck to the Vikings.......very solid effort! and a lot of good hard hitting by the defense.

captainrickypierce,

Well it looks like your Vikes are still taking their lumps from those pompous Jacksonites with their pompous flag pole! Have a nice year on funky street and happy trails in the TVC. I wonder if NY has their 2008 banner printed up yet?

Yes you are correct, still taking our lumps. I for one wish this series would die, I would even give up playing Jackson in basketball, which we are 14-19 against, including a 34 point victory last season. I am tired of the "Jackson Entitlement." Because we are neighbors we are "entitled" to play you. My question is, why do you continued to schedule down?

I agree scheduling Vinton is scheduling down big time. Heck they can't even keep their own athletes male or female. Maybe you guys should look at how you guys run your own business. I guess playing Ironton, logan, Chillicothe, Portsmouth, Gallia, and Zanesville (plus waverky has been very good lately) is not enough for most people. Maybe we should join the almighty tvc or the rinky dink league Oak Hill plays in. :122246 If you gus want to stop playing us and if Wellston wants to stop just say "uncle" and we will move on. Put the pressure on us to play d-1 our first three games. Tell our AD you will not play us anymore put pressure on us to schedule desale etc.. But you guys are just as greedy you want the almighty dollar just like us. Donald Trump would be so proud. Work on keeping your on athletes at your school and maybe then you would be considered a schedule up and not down. After all our school size is very comparable :122246

I am just saying that I don't understand or know why Jackson would want to play us. I mean after all we are country unsophisticated bumpkins that is not deserving to be on the same field with your city sophisticated elite.

I have made no argument alluding to the dominance of one league over the other.

Very and I mean very few Jackson people look down to Vinton County. It seems that the few that feel that way actually has seo preps account. I think the schools are comparable in size and should play. Like you said in basketball you have been getting the better of us. Both schools have nice facilities, short drive etc.... I am from Jackson and we are just as much country bumpkins only thing different is that we have a super wal-mart. I am glad we play your school in many sports. Sometimes you just have to ignore what a few say. I will say this Vinton has much more school pride than Jackson. Our fans sit on their hands and seldom cheer. They second guess the coach and listening to some of the fans they were all americans and won the heisman trophy. enough of me rambling best of luck to both schools.

hawkeye,

What in the world are you talking about? You always play this "Jackson people think they're better than us card". Seems to me that you have a real complex, because the majority of the Jackson people I know don't feel that way at all.

If I had it my way, Jackson wouldn't play Wellston or Vinton County in football. I don't call the shots though.
