Gallipolis frosh drop Coal Grove, 22-6

Post by jottings »

Gallia Academy's freshmen football team downed visiting Coal Grove, 22-6 on Memorial Field Thursday evening.

The victory left GAHS 1-3 on the year. Coal Grove dropped to 2-2.

Brandon Taylor, Joel Johnston, Drew Young and Calib Craft stood out offensively for the Gallians who led 8-0 after one period, 8-6 and halftime, and 16-6 after three quarters.

It was this groups first victory since they were in the seventh grade, snapping a 10-game two and one-half year
losing streak.

Gallipolis will play Ironton on Sept. 25.

Great game Blue, Steve Adkins was a force up front and Drew Young ran the ball like a true fullback. This was a total team effort. Zach Thomas Played well as well as Dallas Moss, Sydney Saunders, Joel Johnston and Brandon Taylor just to name a few. Now that you remember howw to win go out and play as hard as you can. Win, Lose or Draw you will be winners. GO BLUE

Nice win by the 9th grade Blue Devils. Line play was good and the backs ran hard and ran to the holes. Nice decision making by the QB as well. Defense was decent most of the night. I think the contributing factor to this win was the Blue did NOT make mistakes like they have in the past. This time they capitalized on mistakes. As another father and I talked after the game we discussed how in team sports that the team that wins is usually the team that makes less mistakes and not the team that makes a lot of spectacular plays. Congrats boys on the win. Keep playing hard for 4 quarters. Our enthusiasm was there from the kick off.

not bashing the kids but they looked tired towards the end of the game gallia had the ball almost the entire 3rd quarter so they (coal grove ) were wore down pretty good but they have some good sized kids and they played pretty good I thought just bad footbreaks at bad times

coal grove gave away two punts deep into gahs territory. had some trouble with the qb / center exchange. the blue had a nice air attack
