Re: WK 8 Ironton @ Portsmouth (Rival Game)
I could see Ironton goin to Portsmouth and getting a big and convincing victory. I also could see Ironton goin up there and being beaten as well.
If the Tigers play up to potential, I think they'll be just fine but either way..there is no way that Ironton is goin to see the same Portsmouth team that the first seven of Portsmouth's opponents have. If anyone thinks that, they're fooling themselves in my opinion.
Portsmouth WILL be very up for this game as they always are and nothing would take away the sting of a 1 and 7 start like embarrassing the Fighting Tigers in the last meeting between these two at Portsmouth Spartan Stadium

If PORTSMOUTH plays up to their potential they will keep the trophy.
One thing for sure were keeping the trophy. We cant find it, It must be in the old gym.

TTT, Thers room for a Trojan sticker on there. We put one on several times but it was removed. He watches us close when were around.

I really hope this one gets back to a even game here soon, but this year Ironton is too much for the trojans!
Re: WK 8 Ironton @ Portsmouth (Rival Game)
my question is will anybody from portsmouth show up? i hope so cause i really hate to see a program stumble a year and just lose total fan support as attendance goes. i get on here and razz different people and programs but one thing that really breaks my heart is empty stands, even for a team that is having a bad year. if it is a nice evening get off the couch and go to a game! when ironton is playing in china or logan i will walk down and watch the grove just to be at a game. i stayed in chillicothe for the game and was asking a guy at a local gathering spot about the attendance at the game that night. was something else going on or was attendance always that low for cavs games? there were more people from ironton there that night. chilicothe has a winning record, on course for the playoffs, but only a so so crowd. what gives? he just didnt know either. and remember these schools really need the money right now
Re: WK 8 Ironton @ Portsmouth (Rival Game)
great post 895.
Question: Does the fact that this game will be shown on local TV have anything to do with the attendance? Stay home save the $6 a pop for my family and watch the game at 11PM or the next morning. I dont agree with the stance, but does this have an effect? By the way, do the schools get anything from the TV for the right to record the games?
I thought the Ironton game attendance was awful for a homecoming game. Jackson is a D2 school who had a 5-1 record coming in and Ironton was at home. I would hav e thought the game would have been packed out.
Marshall being at home on friday night was mentioned as one reason for low attendance. I cant believe someone would rather pay 5X the amount to watch a product that isnt as good? That's just me.
By the way, wouldnt Marshall be the first ones complaining, if high schools all went to saturday night games every week? TV revenue or not, it's pitiful!

Portsmouth has not had big fan support for some time now, you can pretty much show up at game time, and still have plenty of good seast to find.
the last few Portsmouth /Ironton games, has had very small crowds,,compared to what they used to draw.
plus at our home games,,,you can see 50 or more standing up on the hill

I don't think I've seen this asked yet but if it has, ignore it.
What kind of shape are the visitor's stands in? Did they not have to condem them a couple of years ago?

sis said she went to a game and was over on the visitors side. Lots and lots of bees. Did they get those things taken care of? Apparently they were over there by the visitors stands. Had people running from the area.![]()
