Best Fans
There was already a topic about the "best Stadium"...
I would like to know your opinions on:
1. What is the worst place to play at for the other team, due to the fans, cheer block, cannon...LOL
2. Who has the best Fans/following? Home and away games
Let's limit this to Southern Ohio...
I would have to say BURG...Our Cheerblock is always loud, and our fans follow us to every game...even the games far away (St. C last year)
From our players coming out of the tunnel, to the cannon always going off...
thats my opinion...
We are...The BURG!!!!

Re: Best Fans
I believe Waverly travels as well as any team, burg and jackson travel well. Most away games we have more people there than the home team. Of course Burg is a bad place to play I think people up here have nightmares about that @#@# cannon, alot of teams with their new stadiums are not as bad as they used to be the stadiums are more open and not as intimidating as they used to be. Similar to the old auditoriums that were in use for basketball they were always tough to play in not these bigger gymnasiums they have now.
Re: Best Fans
I think for the most part, Ironton still has a pretty good group of fans that travel to the games, not as much as there used to be though.
I hate to hear cannons! Wheelersburg and Nelsonville York had those. I feel like my heart will jump out of my chest when one of those blasted things goes off! Logan has some sort of gong sound on third down for the visiting team that sounds like a death gong....gave me the creeps. The places we have traveled to have been really friendly to us.

Re: Best Fans
Rock Hill always seems to have a good following home and away regardless of their record. At least, that's what I have noticed when Oak Hill plays them.

tigermama,
that gong sound is the beginning to ac/dc's hells bells. alot of pro and college stadiums play it.
Re: Best Fans
I love the gong at logan...great facility...loved it....just didn't love the result of the game...
Considering the distance that Ironton travels...last week at the NY game..I thought we had a great croud...outnumbered the home side..
Ironton doesn't however have the crowd by no means that we used to...remember the Cape Games....That was a crowd...and that was football...loved those days...still put in the tape every now and then...fires me up just talking about it....wow....
I think the burg student section is good...so was logans...but I don't like the jugs...get rid of those things...makes you look like hillbillies...get a bell or something other than a milk jug...Portsmouth has more class than that...lol...only kidding...gotta cut when you have a chance...they are still our biggest rival...and Portsmouth will soon be back...that sophomore class is awesome...thing is...so is ours...can't wait to see the two schools back to the top where they belong...

Re: Best Fans
It seems that a lot of high school teams have stolen the Gong idea on 3rd down from Ohio State who has been doing it for years.

Best fans? The real test is who travels the best. Logan ALWAYS packs the visitor bleachers.

Re: Best Fans
this is a hard topic to debate on, cause everyone is gonna say their own team. I can't say who has the best fans. I think Ironton, Burg, West, Minford all have very good arguments. As far as traveling. I was VERY impressed last season to see Burg fans travel 3 1/2 hours away for a regular season game against St. Clairsville. The stands where packed. But I'm sure Burg ain't the only team that has fans travel that well.
All I can say is.
Thank god for football!
This crazy game keeps us all going here, there and everywhere

Really? I was there and I thought we brought a good crowd. Who traveled better that was from that far away?

Good point. It was really good for the distance. I just wouldn't call it "packed".

West fans travel pretty well, and have a pretty good home feild advantage with the loud crowd and our train whistle, evidently it works cauae minford had 2 call our school to tell us not to bring it lol,but we brought horns anyway.

logan always travels well. most away games we have more fans in visiting bleachers then the home team does in the home stands.
distance my have played a factor. i know i wasn't there, i had to work. but, my wife and kids where there, and she said we pretty much filled the visiting bleachers up. you can always expect a larger then normal crow from logan. teams may no like us but we help there ticket gates out!
