Jackson @ West Jefferson week 3 2013 season
Jackson is a great team, can't wait till this game. there is talk on another form about this.
Re: Jackson @ West Jefferson week 3 2013 season
Definitely looking forward to this series. Heard it's a four year deal, but not completely sure.
West Jeff has a great program. Should be a great game for both teams.

West Jeff is and has been for many years a high quality program, with high expectations each year. This has the makings of a classic high school football series. Hope they can continue it for years. Good luck to the Ironmen.
Re: Jackson @ West Jefferson week 3 2013 season
Vinton County is already off the schedule for 2012, so Jackson is looking for a Week 3 game for next year before the West Jeff series starts. As far as I know, Week 3 for next season hasn't been filled yet.
Re: Jackson @ West Jefferson week 3 2013 season
The Jackson Ironmen will play Granville in week three of 2012 at home.
Re: Jackson @ West Jefferson week 3 2013 season
That will be a tough game for next year's Ironmen....depending on what Granville lost. A lot of potential points as they play a good number of D3 schools that aren't great.
Re: Jackson @ West Jefferson week 3 2013 season
Nice! D3 team that went 9-1 last year. I'll definitely take that.Ironmen44 wrote:The Jackson Ironmen will play Granville in week three of 2012 at home.
Granville's only loss was to a VERY good Johnstown-Monroe team. They beat Licking Valley and a couple other teams that have solid programs. I wonder if they're returning a lot of players from this year's team?
Re: Jackson @ West Jefferson week 3 2013 season
Granville returns most of their team from last year The qb returns he is the key to their whole offense.Defense was not good as years past not big size wise either.

WJ has a great program but will it help Jackson in the playoff hunt playing a D5 team?
I see this as a Win Situation for WJ but not Jackson.

Re: Jackson @ West Jefferson week 3 2013 season
Again, this past year we could've scheduled South Gallia, Symmes Valley or Trimble and received nearly as many points or more than we received by beating St Charles....and St Charles would've totally embarrassed all 3 of those very respectivle D6 teams.
If we beat WJ, we'll get more points from them than just about any other win we might get....hopefully we can do the same for them.

Re: Jackson @ West Jefferson week 3 2013 season
As Ironman92 already described, L1 points are not the problem for Jackson. L2 points are what the Ironmen were lacking this past season. If you beat a good D5 team that gives you plenty of L2 points, it's better than beating a D3 team that wins only a game or two. The key will be to actually beat West Jeff, which certainly won't be easy.bengalfan76 wrote:WJ has a great program but will it help Jackson in the playoff hunt playing a D5 team?

Re: Jackson @ West Jefferson week 3 2013 season
Glad to hear that Jackson finally filled week 3 next year.
Yes the West Jeff series is a 4 year contract. I've spoken to a person knowledgeable about WJ football and he says they will be loaded in 2013. They started several sophomores in 2011, including the QB (if I remember correctly), and they figure to be very good in 2013. Good enough to make a run at the D5 state title. So beating them any year isn't going to be easy, but especially in 2013.
I have to agree with the posters who said it is better to play a good D5 team than a poor D3 team. The second level points are indeed the most important factor in determining playoff eligibility. Beating a D3 team will get you 5.0 first level computer points. Beating a D5 team will get you 4.0 first level computer points - not a significant difference. Beating a D3 team that finishes the season with a 1-9 record will get you 6.0 second level points at most (assuming they beat a D1 team). But beating a D5 team that finishes the season 9-1 will get you at least 31.50 second level points (9 wins X 3.5 points for each win)(assuming all wins were over D6 teams). So you lose a little on the first level points but pick up a boat load of second level points.
Of course, it is much more difficult to beat a good D5 team than it is to beat a bad D3 team. If you can't beat the D5 team you get zero computer points. In that case, you'd be better off to play the bad D3 team.

WJ is just a couple of cornfields over from Jonathan Alder. They have a great program. If they played this year i would bet the farm on Jackson. However, a lot can change in 2 years. Never count them Rough Riders out because they are a hard working bunch, they play physical, and they wont quit. They consistently field great teams. Nothing but love for my neighbors. Should be a good series.
Re: Jackson @ West Jefferson week 3 2013 season
Showing your lack of knowledge of the Ironmen Football program. Jackson is strong from the Junior High to the Varsity. Jackson's future over the next 5 years will be the strongest. Jackson reloads and their goals will be to repeat the year they had in 2011. Undefeated, League Champs, and a deeper run in the Playoffs. Go Ironmen.....
