Re: Playoffs D4 R15 (8-2) Meigs @ (9-1) New Lex
This is GREAT! I am so proud of the Meigs Marauders! This is something the whole Meigs Football Family should enjoy! I hope every ex player and the entire community comes out and supports the team.
Someone should try to set up a bon fire type deal downtown like we use to have before homecoming games. It is a wonderful atmosphere on the river and was always a great experience.
I also think it would be a good idea to have shuttle buses to save gas money for people wanting to make the 2 hour trip from Pomeroy.
Congratulations Meigs ! ! !
This is a great idea THROW-YA-O'S-UP!O-H. This is a huge first for Meigs and we need to get out and support this team.
This is a long drive and I understand parking may be sparce. It would be great to take buses to haul our all of our fans and any students who would like to go support their classmates. Meigs always travels with a large crowd and this would be a great way to do it. I'm sure lots of folks would rather pay to ride a bus rather than each of us buying gas. Not to mention it's going to be late driving back on a curvy road that most are not familiar with.
We are going in the underdogs, but stranger things have happened and you guys can pull this off !
GO MARAUDERS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Re: Playoffs D4 R15 (8-2) Meigs @ (9-1) New Lex
Hey mods, I started a thread already, you could have put my post on your thread.
Hello.
Congrats to all the playoff teams this year, and to Meigs especially.
I thought I might start a thread about the game coming up.
New Lex is 9-1 after losing a very tough game to Region 12 champion and local rival D3 Sheridan 7-0 in a game greatly affected by the weather. Sheridan is 10-0.
We have defeated:
D3 5-5 Fairfield Union 31-6
D4 6-3 Playoff team Bishop Hartley 7-3
D2 7-3 Tri-Valley 19-7
D3 7-3 New Concord John Glenn 28-3
D5 6-4 Crooksville 21-14
D4 0-10 Maysville 35-0
D3 1-9 Morgan 75-7
D3 3-7 Philo 44-14
D4 4-6 West Muskingum 42-14
If you are coming from Pomeroy Friday, here are the easiest directions:
US 33 to Athens.
Get off on Ohio 13 going North (the first exit after the big hill past Athens)
Follow Ohio 13 north to New Lexington, it eventually picks up Ohio 93.
When you come into New Lexington you will be on Mill Street.
Jim Rockwell Stadium will be on the left side of Mill Street, with a short entrance road to it, next to Roberts Funeral Home. Lights are easily seen from Mill Street.
GET THERE EARLY! There is parking, but not a lot, close to the field, and the locals will be there early to get it. There are several lots a short distance away 5-10 minute walk, and there on-street parking.
The field was carved out of a hillside as a WPA project in the 1930's and is in a bowl shape with good viewing angles and seating. There is lots of room to sit in the stands or on the grass, but the visitor's stands are not real high like the home side is. It can get loud, and there is good concession stand food and indoor rest rooms right behind the visitor's seats. Here are a couple photos:

By the time you fill up the hillside and seats, you can put 5,000+ in the stadium.
WE have a turf field, sorry it's fake grass, and a very, very good band. I hope to hear your band for the first time Friday.
We have 11 Seniors, and good mix of Juniors and SO's with one or two Frosh who play specialties.
It's a shame we don't get another shot at Westfall until the Regional finals if we both get there, but if we win, it will be a great matchup with either Ironton or Westfall.
I'll be happy to answer questions or post other stuff on the thread during the week. Enjoy the week, and we will see you in New Lex next Friday. When I find a good copy of the roster I will post it.

Re: Playoffs D4 R15 (8-2) Meigs @ (9-1) New Lex
Man alive, the sandbagging is going on better here than on mvlforum.com
NCF is wrong about two things:
1. Bush Didn't lie, and thousands were dying already.
2. Meigs is a good team and NL has to work real hard to win the this game, not even thinking about the Region. N-Y is a very good team, and anyone that can almost beat them at home is a team you can't take likely.
I'm still working on the NL roster, if you can post a Meigs Roster, please do.
From Meigs HS, I would plan on 1:30-1:45 to travel up to the Rock for the game.
NL has a chance to win the region, but any one of the 8 teams could win this think. I would think Ironton and Ferry are the favorites to win it, with UL a close shot.
Does Meigs still run out of a 50, or a 3-4 set these days? Or what else do you run?
Is Meigs an I team, or (what I assume) some kind of spread team?

Wow! I have friends from both areas, so this is hard. However, I will always back a TVC team!
Congrats Meigs on your first ever play-off game!!! How proud your community must be! Way To Go!!!
I wish the best to both teams, but would love to see the Marauders win this one!

Re: Playoffs D4 R15 (8-2) Meigs @ (9-1) New Lex
Meigs has a very nice offense and I wouldnt expect them to come out and be scared, dont know much abotu New Lex but Meigs is a very nice football team and hopefully can keep this game respectful
Re: Playoffs D4 R15 (8-2) Meigs @ (9-1) New Lex
I'm not sure why everyone is making a big deal about Meigs drawing and get beat by New Lex. Heck they made
the playoffs the same as Trimble and Nelsonville has done and they normally lose the first playoff game every year they make it. Good job for making the playoff Meigs. Good luck.

Re: Playoffs D4 R15 (8-2) Meigs @ (9-1) New Lex
Meigs is a good team. Nelsonville-York had a tough time beating them. As TVC runners up. I think they will put up a fight against New Lex Friday night, but New Lex should Win Big in this game after a devastating loss to their D3 rival the Sheridan Generals just last week. It was a big game and the weather was horrible not to mention played at sheridan
The rain helped nothing there. but good luck to both teams.
GO PANTHERS!
GOOD LUCK MAURADERS!

I agree freethrow, just getting there is good winning is great going to the state finals almost impossible. Three teams in s-e Ohio N-Y ,Ironton and Wheelersburg won titles . Portsmouth West a runner up a few years back . This is what you are up against.
I will be surprised if any of the three TVC teams wins their games.JMHO. I do wish them Luck and are hoping they do win.
