tigermama....Good post. Given past posts by nybuckeyes60, I've learned to ignore what he says (if you can make heads or tails of what he is saying). That last post of his truly was one of the dumbest in the history of mankind.
I have no dog in this fight, but I would remind him of the final score from that game.
I'm looking forward very much to New Lex-Ironton game. Should be a great one that I'll see from high atop the "WesBanco" press box at Alumni Stadium.

Are you getting perks from Wes Banco? lol
I'd like a perk from them....and the $90 lost from our checking account.

Ironman92.....Nope, no perks from WesBanco. They were emphatic, though, that their logo be placed on the press box and in exact manner when they bought out Oak Hill Banks and changed the name on the press box to WesBanco.
As for those fans returning to Jackson from Ironton or even New Lexington, the McDonald's is not active right now because they are rebuilding their building. There are other fast food choices of course, unless you want to go to Dakota's and have a good steak beforehand.

Re: Round 2 Ironton vs. New Lexington at JACKSON
Has anyone at Ironton ever thought of starting a soccer team so maybe, just maybe someday they could have a kicking game?? I honestly thought that the Westfall game would boil down to who would miss a PAT first. The Ironton kid doing the kicking does a fine job, however, he is at a huge disadvantage when he must stop to change a shoe, in a hurry, then run out there with no spot-up, and straight on kick it. Westfall nearly got to 3 or 4 of them. I can only imagine how tough it is on that kid with all the adrenaline from the TD score, then having to settle down and kick the PAT.
With all the local KY schools having soccer, and all the schools in the SEOAL with soccer teams, why hasn't Ironton considered this?? Or have they?? Is it a lack of kids or lack of interest?? Wouldn't it be nice to have a kicker on the sidelines kicking into the warm up net, ready to go in and nail that game tying 30 yarder??? But no, Ironton has never had that as an option and that will probably be what knocks them out of a close game.
Good luck Tigers!! and all the South Central Ohio teams still alive!!

Going with the Fighting Tigers in this one.
They start fast and then hang on for the win.
The QB for New Lex is awesome and a very dangerous runner.

-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- are you saying go outside our school district and get a kicker. nah, we do just fine with jonathon. he can get r done , all right. it's always like that at ironton. a lot of times the kicker is the qb. can make for some interesting extra points , and , or field goals. we'll be just fine. but in case you know somebody that can kick a 50 yarder sidewindin, ironton has a lot to offer. i hear taco bell is hiring now.sprinter14 wrote:Has anyone at Ironton ever thought of starting a soccer team so maybe, just maybe someday they could have a kicking game?? YTB, just a little info for ya.....I'm from Ironton, born and raised and a grad of IHS. Trust me, I KNOW it has been that way at Ironton......for too long. Jonathon does do a fine job, but it seems to me that schools with soccer programs have a kid who comes over to the football team and is a true "kicker", not a quarterback/punter/placekicker/shoe changer. I feel sorry for the kid. Especially if a playoff loss boils down to which team misses a PAT.
And no, I am NOT a fan of bringin in a kid from another school. I just think you could home grow one if the right program was in place. And yes, I do know a kid that can hit a 50 yarder......Chilli'c kicker came over from the soccer team and hit a 55 yarder at Jackson.

You could always go to the Jackson Ponderosa, right YTB?
Re: Round 2 Ironton vs. New Lexington at JACKSON
Chillicothe's kicker did not kick a 55 yarder at Jackson
though he did make a 38 yarder that cleared the net and went over thebuses in the parking lot.....I'm guessing it had enough for a 58 yarder.....and he made a 50 yarder by about 5 yards.
All this being said....Texas Tech got their kicker in mid-season from the stands....and they are #2 in the land.

Re: Round 2 Ironton vs. New Lexington at JACKSON
Thanks Ironman......I wasn't at that Chilli game, I was at the IHS game that night. I split between Ironton (my hometown) and Chillicothe (my current residence) and I was going on second hand info there. I haven't kept track of his total stats, I just know its nice to have that in your arsenal of weapons.
If YTB was sayin that Ironton doesn't have the resources, then that's totally understandable. I know their enrollment keeps dropping, so maybe IHS just doesn't have enough kids to fill out another sport. The QB doing the kicking IS doing a good job.....I admire him for coming through in all the pressure.
Regardless, good luck Tigers and Cavs!! I feel lucky to have both my teams in round #2 and better yet, they play on separate nights!!

-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- i totally agree, it is a lot to expect from one kid, especially if he has scored the td. i don't know why we don't home grow more pure kickers, as well as have some soccer style kickers. find somebody that shows potential when he's young and work with him, get him to some camps. i was only joking. yes, we've had to call a timeout before. to kick the extra point.sprinter14 wrote:YTB, just a little info for ya.....I'm from Ironton, born and raised and a grad of IHS. Re: Round 2 Ironton vs. New Lexington at JACKSON
Ironton struggles when their opponents spread them out. The only thing that saved us in the westfall game was that their Qb wasnt as mobile, he was quick, but it seemed like when he was flushed out off the pocket he still looked to pass instead of run. I dont know anything about New Lexington other than they stayed close with a tough Sheridan team. Regardless, ive never seen ironton get blown away in the playoffs, they always find a way to hang in there and give themselves a chance to win.
