Alexander definately needs to upgrade its non-league schedule if it has "arrived" and plans to challenge for league titles in most years.

I think one reason Alex did not share a league title in the past two seasons is because of the non-league schedule. Had Alex played a couple tough schools, that could have been all the difference in preperation for playing NY and Athens and gaining a share - or outright - league championship in each of those seasons.
Your saying playing a school who kicks your teeth in makes you better prepared to play teams who will beat you any how? Lol. Oooooook

What i think he was saying..Up the oppents..WHY eastern..when alex could play minford coal grove piketon oak hill..these teams are good most years...you play better teams you will get better..live and learn..till alex does that it will be fighting it out for 2nd and 3rd place in the TVC..

Im not hacking on Eastern..because they are taking the right steps in buliding a solid div 6 program..

Aren't Eastern, Trimble and Newark Catholic all D6?

Yes, but there is a difference between playing traditionally weak small schools and traditionally strong, playoff caliber small schools. Trimble and Newark Catholic are traditionally strong programs. Alexander dropped Trimble from their schedule and that was one non-league game that made sense for them.

Alex will schedule cream puffs and beat there chests for years to come. They WILL NOT however beat NY again for at least 20 more years give or take a couple....... Alex finally has some horses come through the program and there esteemed head coach has them playing Eastern to get ready for the playoffs.

Division 6 is division 6 ny fans.you have played the worst team in the msl in berne union for years and you pass judgement. If you do the math trimble has 1 non league game the 1st 5 games of the year and they play ny so they cannot play alexander since the league has changed. Does alexander need to play a better schedule? Yes and they are in future years. I have heard oak hill is in that mix and also getting fed hock back on for the spacer trophy. Eastern is no longer on the schedule. Alex plays a weak schedule this year and will have to go 9 and 1 to make the playoffs so that means they have to beat ny or athens to do it. If they do they deserve to go right?

After reading my last post I think I may have came off as defending alexanders schedule. I do not think there is a team with a worse schedule in d5. But ny apparently plays this tough schedule to prepare them so much better for their 1st round loss like alexander. Yes you have league titles but you cannot be happy with just that can you?

Let's take ny schedule last season.
Trimble: they would struggle in any other league in the state of ohio if it weren't for the hocking division.
Newark catholic: good in name and a physical program but is not the same nc team of old and nc people will tell you that.
Berne union: when was their last winning season? In the worst msl league.
Ready: again great in name but finished 4 and 6 and lost to mediocre teams later in the year.
St clairsville: good d4 program in a good league but not a d4 powerhouse. Your schedule is better than alexander but if I were a person from wellston I could say your schedule is very weak. Ny may play a tough team every year but it shields several weaker opponents in between. Not an alex fan. Just making a point about what I have observed of ny.

As far as a weak schedule that is debatable..

Alexander has what 2 winning seasons in a long time? They added oak hill next year and trying to build a program. Nelsonville finally scheduled up after 20 some winning seasons. Alex has been at the bottom of the tvc for years. You don't make the playoffs for the first time and schedule St. X the next year.

Nelsonville has always scheduled up. In the 90's, NY played pretty much a D 1,2 and 3 non league schedule most years [Logan was D1 back then], NY has also played the likes of Columbus St. Charles, Portsmouth, Ironton, Jackson, Fairfield Union, etc. etc. as non-league games in the past 20 years. Every year NY has big names on the non-league schedule.

And by the way, NY has had winning teams for 30 years, not 20.

Maybe you wouldn't get bashed if your fans didn't go on another school's site and bash them about a weak schedule for opening the season with a D6 school when your school opens up with two D6 teams.

Two D6 schools that made the playoffs. With the way Arno has turned this program around, they need to schedule up. I'm not going to say NYs schedule is a killer, but who knew BR, Logan, NC, would have off years. The boys from Alex have done a great job, but they need tested. They won't get a test until they run into league play.
