Neither Reynolds nor Wooten applied for the job.

The applicant pool recently went from a national pool ( candidates from 9 other states ) to an international pool, as a coach from Nova Scotia has also applied.

Great! When we play our home games we can play Canadian rules football, and have distinct home field advantage. lol.. Before the Game we can play Canada's National Anthem ay! lol

I think Wooten will be a great head coach some day, whenever he decides its his time. Playing four years as a D-1 football player, hometown boy, bleeds red and white. Great person.

Sounds like the school has a large pool to choose from.

Ocho,

Serious about what?

Phil,

I don't imagine you can or will tell us specific names but according to your earlier post there are about 15 apps from Ohio. Are any of those people relatively close to Jackson?

Also, how would it even be possible to even interview someone from Nova Scotia?

Off of the top of my head the Ohio candidates were from

Chillicothe
Waverly
Gallipolis
Lucasville
Sciotoville
Jackson - not on the current staff
I believe there were 9 or 10 others that were from Ohio but not so local.
Some of these guys DO NOT have prior head coaching experience ( so you can't assume their identity ).
We are in the process of reviewing apps and deciding who will be interviewed. There is no huge hurry. As many of you have stated we have great in-house assistants and they are taking care of things until we find the right guy.

Pavilion,

To answer your question about interviewing the guy from Nova Scotia - I could put Bob Kight on a plane! He doesn't mind the cold weather! Now, if someone from Hawaii or Cancun surfaces I might have to make the trip for that interview!

Heck with a plane...Bob is loyal and dedicated enough he could walk and swim to Nova Scotia. During the horrid 5-6 inches of snow the other day he parked and walked up to the high school hill and back at least twice.

Dedication man!

They don't come any better than Mr. Kight. He is a huge asset to Jackson City Schools. More than that he is a quality person.

Ironman92,

You are right. That's why I looked on this thread - so I could see who applied, who is being interviewed, when it is all going to happen, and who the frontrunners for the job are. Plus, with no games in the last week I got bored! You, my friend, should be giving out spelling words instead of being on here!

Rest assured Mr. Kight is on top of things as usual! What you guys don't see is the guy is out running at 4 a.m. every morning!

I've seen him at 4:00 am....about scared me to death.

As for giving out spelling words. You can only practice those words so long at a time. She is about 1/2 way to memorizing every word.

That is Mr. Kight's biggest problem. He lays in bed half the day!

Phil, I'm assuming one of the applicants from West Virginia is coaching legend Randy Beckman. Would that be correct?

Also, why the lovefest for Mr. Kight? I thought he was always kind of on the mean side when I was a student at JHS.

Mr. Kight was a good teacher and assistant principal ( they are are not suppose to be your buddy). Plus he does a great job as AD so i guess that is why there is a lovefest for him. He has raised the bar for AD. Jackson is lucky.
