I'm not even discussing the incident that happened, sportsmanship, or class. I suggest that everyone else leave it alone also.

Congratulations to the 2011 Outright SEOAL Champion Jackson Ironmen! PERFECTION!!!

I cannot even begin to describe how proud I am of this team. It has been a pleasure to watch you the entire season and I'm looking forward to the playoffs also. This team will forever be remembered for their accomplishments...winning a second straight outright SEOAL championship (Jackson's 22nd), earning the 9th playoff appearance in school history, and of course, earning the White Jackets with a 10-0 season. Great job, fellas!

Now that we're in the playoffs, there's no reason to stop there. Let's win 5 more!

GO IRONMEN!

Great job Ironmen
Better wait till the whole story comes out. From what I'm hearing, the jackson kid liked to run his mouth a lot. So... someone decided to shut it for him. But, who knows ? If thats the case shame on both of them.
This Reply is unreal, trash talking is part of HS football has been since it started i would imagine! You try to get the guy who runs his mouth with in the rules of the game, out play him,hit him when your blocking or tackling!
NO!
Shame on the kid who ripped off the helmet and punched the other kid! If the kid runs his mouth he is a gamer because obviously he backs it up with his play.
We had a nice season, better than most predicted including me in the weak seoal, but almost everyone on this team is class, the bad apples need to be gone!

To make things clear for those that don't understand what is going on... Jackson was up a few touchdowns in the second half, obviously running thing clock out and trying to get through the game. Then Austin Osborne ran the ball up the middle for about a 10 yard gain and a Gallia defender tackled him, grabbed his facemask, ripped his helmet off, wouldn't let him up so both teams began to get in the middle of it but Jackson coaches quickly grabbed their players to the sidelines knowing that we have a game next week to worry about and to make sure there were no ejections on our side. I am not saying Gallia was playing dirty all game, but once they were down there were 2 plays that weren't very sportsmanlike obviously trying to hurt some players. That being said other than a couple plays Gallia competed well and I thought they had a couple players that played a great game.

Worst/best play of the night I saw from Gallia was a bad snap that their punter #10 ran after, avoided defenders, ran to his left and punted the ball to the 50 rather than the 10 (left footed and I do no believe that he is not left footed) smart/ incredible play by a high school athlete at this level.

Austin Osborne was simply too much for Gallia to handle, they had now answer for his speed.

Jackson defense like I said was also misunderstood coming into this game, only touchdown scored was on the second team, Gallia's offense could move the ball decent on the ground but nothing that was going to make an impact. Solid defensive game for the Ironmen. Way to make it 10-0! Well deserved boys.

blue-steel... maybe it's called "since you take those b.s. shots, then we are going to take a shot at the end zone". If I were the head coach I would have done that and more to get into the end zone again. Let's say there was some trash talking going down on the field, what gives a player the right to dive at someones knee from behind and put them out for the game, grab a facemask, rip a helmet off and punch him? Classless show of display by the Blue Devils in the 4th quarter whether who wants to admit it or not. If you can't stand the heat, stay out of the kitchen (or in this display, stay out of Alumni Stadium) 10-0! Leage Champs, White Jackets, Playoffs!!!

That one happened out in the open at end of a play, there are many of the same incidents that happen in a pile over and over each play and are never called.

Do you think throwing the ball on consecutive downs with under 7 minutes to play up 27 points is good sportsmanship. Or having # 10 in the game till the very end knowing that you have a playoff game the next week good sportsmanship?

If I am up 4 tds with under 7 to go in the fourth against my bitter rival in a rough hitting game and a playoff game looming, I myself am playing some kids and sitting my stars at this point, taking them out 1 at a time so they can be acknowledged over the loudspeaker. i sure in the heck don't have my best player taking 7 step drops trying to launch ball down the field. maybe thats not sportsmanship, maybe thats class?

Last senior home game I do not want to be on the bench when time runs out and I am sure neither did the seniors for Jackson. Then after all the issues during the game you bet the best way to get back at a bitter rival score more points. I have been in jackson now for about 15 years and no matter what sport it is Gallia is the worst games on the schedule when it come to all the extra stuff the kids are fine it is the coaches who I think put this stuff in their heads. Instead of beating each other on the field, court or baseball field go after the best player foul him hard or throw at him. That is part of sport it has been for years when your rival comes to town unwritten rules are thrown out and you just want to score and score often.
Good Luck Ironmen!!! 10-0 (for only the 3rd time at a football school?? that is for another topic) Make a deep run in a tough region and prove a lot of people wrong!!

This was definitely the difference. It seemed to me that the Gallia defense was really keying on Drew. He still picked up some tough yards, especially on the drive that essentially put the game away, giving Jackson a 21-0 lead. However, Austin really hurt GAHS with his ability to improvise. He got a lot of yardage after plays had broken down, while also breaking the two TD runs. The connection between Osborne and McNelly for a long TD in the 2nd quarter was a thing of beauty as well.

Unofficially, Osborne has now thrown for 1,020 yards with 19 TDs and only 5 INTs. He has also rushed for 886 yards and 12 TDs. Very impressive numbers.

Ervin now has 919 yards rushing with 15 TDs, Landrum has added 613 yards rushing and 7 TDs, and Ty McNelly has 39 receptions for 699 yards and 14 TDs. The offensive balance for Jackson is absolutely amazing, and makes them nearly impossible to defend.

By the way, it's 10-0 for the 5th time, and undefeated for the 8th time.

All part of 569 all-time wins which ranks in the Top 30 in the state of Ohio.

2011 - 10-0
1996 - 10-0 (11-1)
1969 - 9-0-1
1961 - 10-0
1954 - 10-0
1940 - 8-0-2
1932 - 10-0
1927 - 8-0-1

I'd say that's actually just fine for a "football school".

If anyone wants to discuss the game, then do it. However, we need to stop dwelling on the unfortunate incident. Let's not turn this whole thing into an ongoing argument.

If thats how it's done in Jackson, then I feel sorry for the kids and the program. I can assure you, that's not how its taught at Gallia Academy.

And as I senior, Getting announced coming off the field ( getting cheered on individuaklly by everyone in the crowd) in your last game at home and watching the future of the program on the field as you have passed the torch should be much more fulfilling than playing to the final horn. remember the senior playing, this isn't his last game, he has at least one more game left.

ok Congrads to Jackson on wining the SEOAL and going to the playoffs great season.that being said -now don't act like Jackson was'nt playing dirty football you guys had 9 or 10 penalties when I stopped counting and most were personal fouls my son was punched in the face, punched in the stomach, hit in the groin , and your superstar tried to twist his ankle off after the tackle(personal foul)---- he never complained he took it right up till he got hurt so don't try and make it out that you guys were playing a clean game it was a dirty game from the whistle and kept getting worse from both teams as the game went on I have said my piece now go represent the SEOAL well next week
