Siders 09
Re: Siders 09
Schedule should look like this:
Fairland (Home)
Portsmouth (Away)
South Point (Home)
Rock Hill (Away)
Chesapeake (Home)
Northwest (Away)
Waverly (Home)
Minford (Home)
Valley (Away)
Wheelersburg (Away)
I think West has a shot at 10-0, 6-4 at worst. 7-3 or 8-2 is what I'm saying right now. The games I look to be close are: Portsmouth, Waverly, Minford, Wheelersburg, and possibly Valley. Minford and Burg will be the two toughest on our schedule, but regardless if they repeat the Soc championship or not I think they will be a playoff team. However, I would like to see the non-conference schedule beefed up some, maybe get an Ironton series back or a series with a team like Gallia Academy (who we scrimmage)

Re: Siders 09
Did anyone on our schedule graduate more than what we did? I think most teams have alot coming back. At least half of the teams on our schedule are returning qb's, and alot of returning starters. Could we be hitting a cycle where we're, the young guns playing against seasoned vetrans. I know we have alot of talent, but we also lost alot of seniors, that took most of the playing time.
Re: Siders 09
Burg lost 5 seniors, Minford lost like something 10 seniors, but they return alot, Portsmouth lost like 10 Seniors (some of who quit mid-season). South Point lost a huge senior class, Fairland lost a huge Senior Class, Waverly lost something like 5 seniors, Valley lost 5 seniors, and Chesapeake, Northwest, Rock Hill didn't lose much. It was kind of odd how it all played. In 2007 everyone had huge senior classes, but we didn't, and last year we had the big senior class and no one else did. Even though this West team is inexperienced, they are athletic, and very very strong. This is why even, though there are few seniors, I don't think it will be a down year.

I agree... the little leadership we have is a great influence..Like McGraw he is one of the hardest workers I've seen.
He i svery verbal and is a great leader!

I heard that Locher was going to be the QB? And i don't see Kyle Borders in the lineup anywhere.

Just because Murphy hasnt been in the west weight room doesnt mean he hasnt been lifting. Murphy and Wilfong have been going to the college and lifting hardcore everyday.
Re: Siders 09
Thats great Wilfong and Murphy are lifting hard, however I believe you need to lift with your team. Wilfong is a smart player and a good player, but if he wants to start he will have to work his tail off and will have to beat out one of those monsterous freshman (who work as hard as any one I have seen). Kyle Borders isn't on the list because he hasn't played the past few seasons. I believe he can play however. He is pretty quick, athletic, and fairly strong. He might be a good tight end opposite of Compton.
Re: Siders 09
Both do need to get in the weightroom with their teamates....and doing Coach Tripletts workout...PEC...now i know its supposed to make u fster but nothing beats the weightroom!!!
Re: Siders 09
I would encourage all football players to do P.e.c. I did it as a player. It was rough day, Pec in the morning, football workouts in the evening. But, you get out what you put in even if it almost kills you. However I agree, working out with the team is more important than anything (that and I would take Triplett's workout regiment over any personal trainer's) It makes you competitive, it makes you wanna be the strongest. I also helps you become closer with your teammates, something that is very important (espicially on the O-line). So what is everyones prediction for a record? I've made mine what is everyone elses?

Re: Siders 09
Why go to the college, and not lift with your team? Do they have trainers? It seems that it would be easier, and more practical to go out the back door at 2:45 and lift at West. They could be assets to the younger players.
Re: Siders 09
I expect Valley to be better. Portsmouth will be better. The OVC schools, minus Rock Hill who may be a bit better, will be worse. Waverly and Northwest will be better but not enough. Considering that, I still think the only 2 teams on our schedule that can beat us unless we lay an absolute egg are Minford and Burg. Both of those will be good games. Anywhere from 8-2 to 10-0.
Re: Siders 09
Triplett's terrors or whateve they call us..lol
We stick together..aint nothing better than teamwork...am i right?
All these kids going to everything other than the weightroom r jus losing that competetive edge...West loves to make guys push their hardest 24-7...I am not saying other schools dont...but ive only seen ours and i say its pretty tough

Re: Siders 09
i agree the players should be working out as a team and i agree that kyle locher would be a good quarterback
Re: Siders 09
I don't think it the school West getting all they can out of their players, I think it is Triplett (and his staff). Not all West sports work this hard, but Triplett gets all he can out of his players. It just happens that this is a motivated group of players. But, working out with the team is much better than individual, Imo
Re: Siders 09
Fisher has a very good arm, I remember him from when he was younger, but I doubt he will get a shot to show it off, because their is already a 3-man competition at qb
Re: Siders 09
wow i heard from alot of teamates that adam newman was the one that created the post and created the lineup....does his coach know hes on here....n been tlkn bout murphy sayin stupid nonsince making him sound all bad....i am a friend of his mom...she sais he works out from 3 to 5:30 the goes to baseball conditioning...so adam u need to grow up and get off here this is not for players...u should be focusing on football not gossip!!!!!!!!!
Re: Siders 09
I know its u Murphy..and im not dogging u im jus saying like we've been talking about for the past page..lol nothing beats teamwork..and if yur working out with the team itll grow that...
