Results of tonight's scrimmage with Fairland

Varsity played 3 quarters. Jv took fourth and then some extra.
Ended up a 21-21 tie for varsity part.
Both teams had ups and downs. Minford looks to have a nice offensive front. Big and athletic enough to block in space on the jet/fly sweep. The spread looks Minford attempted were marginal at best, save for the sweep run game.
As happened last night, I would expect them to be able to have chances to win as they wear out the oppositions defense.
Defensively, they had issues when Fairland went to a spread type look. Both in coverage and stopping the run. Faired much better against the more "traditional" run sets.

Conversely, Fairland looked good early on both sides of the ball and then seemed to wear down defensively. They do have some athletes on the perimeter, just severely lacking any sort of depth.

Looks like an average year at best for the Falcons. Fairland is not very good.

All a scrimmage is a glorified practice. I'm sure with Minford coming out in the 3rd quarter and having the success they did, the staff found a few answers to their team. Minford will be just fine this year. Good luck Falcons, get ready for Rock Hill! Go Red
