I am going to have to agree with him. Ironton of course as always but no teams like JC, St cvill, gallia, bishop ready....

heard that for next year week 2---could be wellston, gallia, or fairland which ever can work out. i know at the time JC only could have a one year then may again in 2 or 3 years??? Who else besides portsmouth and ironton has a better schedule in the soc?

I am not so sure the burg should judge their schedule based on who the other soc teams have on their schedules. Last season the burg basically had bye weeks the 3-5 weeks of the season. Add nw in there thats 4 games that were pretty much decided before kickoff. I like the idea of adding gallia, I would also like to see newark cath back on the schedule and I have always thought the burg and A clearcreek should have a series. I'm not suggesting playing all those schools the same yr by the way, wouldn't want to go from one extreme to another.

What is the reasoning Burg hasn't played the above mentioned schools for awhile? Is it because they don't want to play the Burg or Burg doesn't want to play them or is it scheduling conflicts.

If you remember, after the game between JC and Burg, JC lost the next week and the coach made the statement that his players were just to banged up from the week before. Burg could have won that game hadn't it have been for two plays. I think a sure TD pass was dropped and then the botched fake punt that would have went for TD as JC didn't have a clue who had the ball. Do they really want to play a team that gave them one of there better games and hardest hitting games of the year?

Amanda and Burg have never played and it is probably because the same reason Lucas used to give for Coal Grove. They don't want to play a team they have a chance of meeting in the playoffs. I say BS!!!! They don't want that chance of a loss being hung on them in the reg. season which could impact whether you play at home or on the road in week 1 of the playoffs.

I have to agree with getting NC back on the sched. That was a great 4 year home and home series with the Burg coming out in 3 of them and losing the 4th one in OT.

Would also like to see them play West Jefferson again sometime. That was a nice two year series back in the mid 90's and they haven't met since.

I think a lot of the reasons for not playing teams like Newark Cath, Bishop Ready, St Clairesville, West Jeff, and a few others is the cost of travel. With most schools losing funding over the past few years and the prices of almost everything going up it gets exspensive traveling those distances to play teams.

eddie, I can't name any particular team. I would say the larger division teams in
Ashland or Huntington would play us and the travel would not be that far. Playing
Fairland or Gallia does not give the playoff atmosphere needed to prepare Burg
for the playoffs. I just think even if we lose to a larger division school is better than
a win against a lesser opponent.

once again i believe it is cost that has a lot to do with who we play,as of 2008 to present----and not only wheelersburg--- but a lot of other schools as well. a couple other factors is---- no openings at particular times ---so timing is a little off and with KY schools it has been a redistricing thing (which i dont fully understand). i know that there is not a big interest with WV schools wanting to play wheelersburg because i remember coach lewis had given a report at a booster meeting about up-coming schedules and had made that statement. why ---i dont know. he had also said that Ashland was a big intrest but they needed a home game to start the series and so did we so the contract failed. he said he would try agian in 3 or 4 years but he is in IN now---so who knows

i believe amanda has conference games startin week 4 so that only leaves the first 3 games

here is amanda's 2009 schedule. games 4-10 are league games. unless the burg drops ironton which is highly unlikely or portsmouth which is not likely then that only leaves week 2 for a burg-amanda game

LIBERTY UNION (BALTIMORE)
LOGAN ELM (CIRCLEVILLE) (Mid-State League Game)
CIRCLEVILLE (CIRCLEVILLE) (Mid-State League Game)

Not to hijack the thread, but I didn't want to make a new post about this...

You can now follow this season of Pirates football via Twitter. Visit http://www.twitter.com/burgsports and click the "Follow" link. You can get instant notifications when my photos have been posted and Pirate news and updates ...directly to your Twitter account or mobile phone.

I'll be on the sideline shooting photos of each game and if I can make the time, I will tweet scores throughout the game. I haven't done this before, but will if there is enough interest.

Thanks,
T

They say he is even just as good at basketball. Can jump up and do 360 dunk standing flat footed under the basket.

I saw his old man once catch two rattlesnakes, tie them together and wear them for a belt, WHILE THEY WERE STILL ALIVE. If they tried to bite him he would just smack them on top of the head.

is it true he transferred to Johnson Central Ky.

Yep, he left. They needed his dad, Bill Brasky,sr to come down and dig some new mines,WITH HIS BARE HANDS.

Man, that is to bad. Was really looking forward to watching him play.
