The other two had nothing to do with contact, simply horrible ball handling. For whatever reason they were not taking the ball away well and just dropped the ball. No excuse really, especially among players who were starters last year.
I'll have to disagree on the fumbles. The first one might have been that the receiver did have trouble tucking it away, but the Burg defender was reaching in there trying to pull it out and it worked. The second one was the way a defender should go after the ball and that was the old textbook reaching around from behind the runner and knocking it out of his hands. I was right in front of that play and that was done to perfection. The Ironton runner had the ball tucked, but when it got hit from behind, he couldn't hold onto it. The third one I think was just a good hit that jarred the ball loose. How about giving the Burg defenders some credit for casuing the fumbles. Those balls weren't just dropped as the players were running down the field. They had some help.
The two that the Burg fumbled were caused by some very hard hits, especially that second one. The Burg player was blindsided and never saw the hit coming.
