Playoffs D4 R15 (8-2) Westfall @ (6-3) Ironton
Re: Playoffs D4 R15 (8-2) Westfall @ (6-3) Ironton
sure we did TC, we faced the TIGERS. we faced the circleville tiger and the WAVERLY TIGERS (which everyone said we would loose to I might add).
This game should be a good one and it will come down the the few minutes.

I say the line is
Ironton -14
Total 49
I think Ironton will win this game. The Fighting Tigers just need to win the war up front and make sure they tackle well. Everything else should take care of itself.

First congrats Ironton on getting into the playoffs!!! I know Ironton is a very tough and physical team. If Westfall does not have alot of speed they are going to have a hard time getting a win in TANK STADUIM!!!!!!

We'll see what the real results say Friday night and not a computer.

< 2 fumbles or turnovers = 1 big win for the tigers 2+ turnovers = 1 bad taste in our mouths all winter for tiger fans

Good post, tl895. The turnover bug has bitten the Tigers all season, and must be eliminated for Ironton to be victorious. I am also concerned about any team with a dual threat run/pass QB. Those kind of guys have eaten our lunch all season, and it looks like Westfall has a good one. Bet the over, and look out for a wild and woolly one at the Tanks come Friday night.

zbd, THE MUSTANGS have very good speed at the skill positions. BEEP BEEP!! THE MUSTANGS have come together the last few weeks and are playing as well as they have all year. I think we can put it in the 30's but the 40's would require some help from the tigers. ( i.e. turnovers) WESTFALL by a TD, still!!!

Pembrook: Do you think single coverage on the outside and rush the LB's?

Well, I'm cetainly no football coach 85inside, and I hesitate to discuss Xs and Os. I trust our coaches to do the best with what they have to work with on the field. They know so much more about how to win than I do, it's really pretty ridiculous for me to even venture a guess.
But it's fun to just speculate on here what they may have up their sleeves. That's what these crazy boards are for aren't they?
I certainly have no inside info, but knowing that our zone coverage has looked pretty soft at times, and slow to react to the QB scramble out of our base 5-2, maybe they might look at employing more of a 4-3 or a 3-4 look, using our mobile ends in less of a straight rush role, and more as linebackers protecting the middle of the field against the short pass and the QB who breaks contain. They might roll Tony, Geoffrey, Brad, and Sam in and out as our 3 down guys, and tell them its their job to get the sacks on Friday and to stuff the inside runs. Then to meet the RB or QB within 3 yards of the line of scrimmage, they might deploy a robust corps of soild tacklers from a rotating group consisting of Mike, Erin, Howie, Jon, Chris, and Brian. They might even send one (or two) of them on a blitz ever now and then, but never the same guys twice in a row. Finally, they might decide to man up the receivers with an athletic rotation of Lucas, Tommy, Major, Chance, JP, and Ethan.
Then again, they might come up with a totally different gameplan that would make even better sense than my silly ramblings. Go Tigers!

Pembrook, dont forget the offense. Remember at Jackson in 2005 Coach Lutz opened up the offense and threw in some trickeration to help beat the Mustangs. With it being Halloween night friday might we see some more trickeration for the Mustangs to the treat of the Ironton fans?

RUT ROW!
I'm not superstitious but..if you follow the blog that I pointed out a minute ago, one of the things you'll find out that, this Halloween week also marks the 13th playoff game that Ironton has played at Ironton's Tank Memorial Stadium!

Ironton plays a strait up zone. You can't run single coverage on the outside in a zone defense. Also, how often does Ironton blitz? Not to often!

I know for a fact that we will be running are base 5-2 with and extra defensive back coming in for a lineman in pass situations.

Re: Playoffs D4 R15 (8-2) Westfall @ (6-3) Ironton
if i'm not out of town, i can't wait to see this game. i should be in line as always by a very early hour, right up there with rrr, spanky, tigerman, and the gang. i look for big things out of the fighting tigers this year. i think this is where this brutal schedule pays off.
