Many years ago, I had a son that was an all league quarterback on a team that went 0-10. (In a ten team league) He was physically beat up most of the time. When your opponent's defensive game plan is to basically stop one player it is difficult to keep that player healthy. I am looking forward to seeing JP play at the next level. Hope he can get healthy and stay healthy the rest of the year.pigskinguru wrote:Prater is a heck of a football player no doubt. It just seems like he can not make it through a season without getting injured (from what I have read over the last 3 years). I could be wrong, but it seems like he has been out or missed parts of more games than he has played over his career. When he is healthy, he sure has an impact on the game.

Re: Week 3: Gallia Academy (1-1) @ Wellston (1-1)
GAHS defense continues to get the job done.
It's tough to replace the kind of offensive talent like GAHS had last season. Takes lots of reps to find the right stride. There is offensive some talent on this ballclub. It just needs some more seasoning. Perhaps the offense will find its rhythm in time to make a run in the SEOAL. All those injuries haven't helped either.
Hats off to Coach Eddy and his staff for keeping this ballclub together. Saw the club play at Licking Heights last week. They beat on LH pretty good. Much more physical.
Blue should get a win next week against Marietta before playing host to what looks like another dominant Ironton program in Week 5. MHS has been dominated the last two weeks by Warren and Parkersburg.
Good luck, GAHS!

BTW, caught a glimpse of Wellston's renovated digs on GG. Very, very nice. Good for the Golden Rockets. Stuff like that gives kids a little boost. Kudos to ESPN for its Rise Up project.

Please keep Rick Perdue, Wellston's play-by-play radio announcer, in your prayers.
Late in the first quarter of the game on Friday night, he was informed his mother had passed away.
Understandably, he left the broadcast booth.
Thoughts and prayers to Rick and his family at this difficult time.
Rick is a very kind, caring Christian man.

I had GAHS being penalized 10 times for 125 yards. Rockets were penalized three times for 20 yards.
GAHS won the first half. Wellston won the second.
I had GAHS 15 first downs, Wellston 10, 272 yards rushing to Rockets 124. GAHS had 12 passing while Wellston had 111 yards, giving GAHS a 284-235 total yards advantage, GAHS ran 54 plays from scrimmage, Wellston 40.

Regaudles of the out come this was a classic, A great game from both teams! I hope wellston learns from this game that everybody that is left on the schedule won't be as big or strong and good as Gallia and they can make a run at the tvc title!! Go rockets!!! :122249
Re: Week 3: Gallia Academy (1-1) @ Wellston (1-1)
Yeah, Gallia just slapped Athens all around the field and......oh wait, Athens did that to Gallia! So you might want to amend that statement. The _Big_One wrote:Regaudles of the out come this was a classic, A great game from both teams! Just a question on officiating. Should a touchdown be called if the official does not see the ball actually break the plain of the goal line, but just finds it over when dismantling the pile-up of players?

Did Gallia get a facemask penalty last night? I think that one might have been the only one not called on us.. The flags became a joke after a while

Re: Week 3: Gallia Academy (1-1) @ Wellston (1-1)
Yes, and I couldn't believe the pass play near the end by Wellston was called out-of-bounds on the home side, after the rest of the game, that came as a big surprise.

Re: Week 3: Gallia Academy (1-1) @ Wellston (1-1)
A player at the bottom of the pile told me that he was down on his knees at the 3 and crawled forward and extended to ball over the goal line. When the officials dismantled the pile and found the ball over the goal line, they called touchdown. All the Wellston players AND the Wellston announcer were saying/signalling TD for 15 secs prior to that.Mighty Mighty Devils wrote:GalliaGrad78 wrote:Just a question on officiating. Congrats to the Blue Devils. The Rockets fought hard and didn't give up. I am looking forward to the rest of the season. The officiating crew missed a few calls that also favored the Blue Devils. I do not think it had an impact on the game. Good luck the rest of the way.
