No money was exchanged. Athens lefted the league before expansion SEOAL ever played a game. We played years in the SEOAL while already signed with the TVC.
Oh, hey, what do you know? Raider is AGAIN posting inaccurate information.
Athens was STILL in the SEOAL in 2007. The league expanded BEFORE 2006. So Athens played not ONE but TWO seasons in the expanded SEOAL. They announced at the end of the 06-07 school year they were leaving the SEOAL. They had to stay through the 07-08 school year to start TVC football play in 2008.
You ARE right about no money exchanging hands. But Athens DID back out of a gentleman's agreement to continue the football contract in 2008 and 2009. From the Logan Daily News; Nov. 1, 2007:
"Athens High School on Tuesday backed out of a contract with Logan for a pair of non-league football games, meaning the Chieftains have a glaring week-three hole on their 2008 and 2009 schedules."
"Ron Janey, Logan High School activities director, said no monetary fine was put into place in case one of the schools broke the contract, which was a good-faith agreement between the two schools."
