Only people living rent free in Ironton are our recruits.

I will say most every Portsmouth poster has recognized how embarrassing the eight quarters of football have been. Not because of the score but because of the behavior that is accepted. You seem to feel Portsmouth is a victim (they do it too! refs are screwing us! their coach is dirty!). Which is fine, believe what you want. But you are on an island.

Well I saw Terry get smacked in the mouth and throw his hands up. Looked like "no fight" to me. Just talk
Why would any Ironton kid fight back and risk being ejected and sit out the next game against prep? They were disciplined and punched Portsmouth in the mouth by doing it the right way #scoreboard
Wouldn’t have gotten called anyways, you play at Ironton you play the refs, it’s that simple and always has been that way.
Nice try… officials in the playoffs are assigned by the state. Very rarely are they from the area or have any ties to southern Ohio.

Wasn’t a try it’s a fact. Why would it matter if the state assigns them? The OHSAA are crooks, that’s why they don’t crack down on Ironton for recruiting, they sure don’t care about biased refs.

94-0 in two games has nothing to do with the refs. Keep thinking that though! You got beat down, have for years now. Pendleton owns you all

Good post Bob, agree with everything you said. Most regular posters from Portsmouth on here know what happened and are done with it. This guy can’t let it go, just making things worse with every post he posts. lol

veer wrote: Mon Nov 11, 2024 8:36 am Came to watch the game. Here is my take.

I choose to sit on the Portsmouth side...big mistake. There was some drunkin idiot screaming every. single. play... I am not an Ironton fan nor am I a Portsmouth fan and I can say that I will never come to watch a Portsmouth game again. The fans were out of control. If I were the AD some of you wouldve been going home early. Complete embarrassment to your program, your community, and yourself. The refs called more penalties on Ironton in this game until players for Portsmouth started acting foolish. And this whole, "well Ironton did it too and Ironton is dirty"...really? Are grown adults really complaining like 10yr olds?? lolol Grow up.

As for the team, I understand big rivalry games, but Portsmouth was completely not there to play a football game. I cant believe their coach didnt put some of those kids on the bench and leave them there for the rest of the game. Complete joke. Responding to adversity was clearly not Portsmouths strong suit. It's a shame too cause I thought Portsmouth had some nice athletes, just no discipline. I guess after listening to their fans it does make sense though.

As for the game, Ironton is very physical and talented, but will struggle against good teams due to the amount of penalties they rack up. If they can clean up the penalties they have a shot to go very deep and compete for a title this year.
The fan you are referring to is not a drunkin idiot…his name is BJ and he’s severely autistic. He’s a Portsmouth graduate who had befriended several of the players in different sports, he shows up to all the games. Now while I agree whoever brings him needs to have him scale it back, maybe you should know the facts before you get online and make yourself look like the idiot.

Glad you won’t be back, you seem like a stud tbh. If you were paying attention and wondered why Portsmouth fans were upset you would know it’s because they chose when to throw the flag instead of throwing the flags every play. Ironton did get called for holding a lot, should’ve been even more. Yes, I will continue to act like I’m 10 and say Ironton is dirty, they are, their coach is, the school is, the town is. But yeah better if you don’t show up again, but if you do give me a shout and maybe I could make you feel very unwelcomed.
Just stating an observation. And I wasnt talking about him. I kinda figured something else was going on there. I was referring to a different person in the stands. All I was trying to say is, Ive watched a lot of football over the years and I have never seen fans act this way at a HS football game.

And really? Playing against the refs? It was an OHSAA playoff game. God knows where those refs came from but I can promise you they werent from Ironton. Thats not how the system works .... Also, if you think that HS refs truly give a crap about who wins or loses that game, you are what's wrong with sports today. Those guys have real jobs and are just as human as any of us. They dont ref as their full time job and even if they did, Refs miss calls, nothing new there. But to say they are cheating is just ignorant. Get a life man. And your last statement...give you a shout? Lord. How immature lol you sound like you are in HS.
#KeyBoardHero
Well I’d like to apologize on behalf of the Portsmouth contingent that knows what went down was embarrassing. I hate that your experience to the Portsmouth football program didn’t go well. As if the play on the field wasn’t bad enough all the antics by the players made it so much worse. Some parents/supporters for the Trojans do seem to get a bit animated, and while I don’t agree with every call a ref may make, I don’t heckle them. My buddy and I actually walked out with our heads down just trying to get to the car due to being embarrassed. It happened most of the season, even in winning efforts. Week 9 against South Point it cost them early. I’ve said it numerous times on here, I like Coach Kalb, but he needs a voice and backbone. It’s not every kid, but so many of your players, even seniors going out there acting a fool because they couldn’t face adversity when it hit them in the mouth so they act out of character, bench them and get someone in there who will show some, especially when the game is out of hand anyways. 94-0 stings, but not worse than the 30 (idk exact number lol) personal fouls and unsportsmanlikes against the same team. Sorry again for your bad experience Veer.

Portsmouths conduct as a team is a reflection of portsmouth and actually it is a perfect reflection.

Look at what portsmouth has become.
Now look at how their kids behave.

Girls basketball just went to the Final 4. Baseball to Regionals. Such a pitiful reflection of Portsmouth lol.
We, just like pretty much everywhere else, don't like Ironton!

It will be interesting now with new Basketball Coach if this conduct will be addressed from the beginning . It's a terrible look for Portsmouth no matter if what the perceived issue is. You play to win and someone has to lose. But at least have some respect, dignity and a least some class win or lose. My question then is why hasn't this been addressed and seems to just continue. Good Luck Trojans stay classy and lose with some dignity and learn from past issues.

Bingo. One look at what the "adults" are responsible for in Portsmouth and it's a clear indication why the children behave as they do.

I often wonder this too. I’m all for playing aggressive and hard nosed football. Sometimes you do get called for a personal foul or whatever and it’s okay. But one after another is just poor sportsmanship. I’m no coach, but you best believe if I were I wouldn’t have tolerated what happened. It does shine a bad light on the town, school and team. I’m a Portsmouth alum, but don’t send my kids to school there, many reasons why but what’s being talked about on here happens to be one.

Not football related but related to Portsmouth athletics.

A couple years ago I was at a basketball game there and witnessed a young student throw a pop bottle from the upper seats and hit a man in the back of the head with it. No parent or guardian around to correct the behavior.
I agree, we as adults should set the example for kids to follow. I didn’t know the student or the man who got hit.

I just wonder if anything was said to the kids after the 1st loss to Ironton with all the personal foul penalties because it does not seem like it.

I am sure there was...but, with that being said, this goes back to what these kids are hearing and seeing from the adults/parents in the community. It was almost every play, even on the good plays for Portsmouth, there was complaining/screaming from Portsmouth fans about how dirty the opposing team was or how bad the officials were. Instead, stop encouraging teens that making excuses is an acceptable behavior. Teach them to be tough and not to make excuses and point the finger at someone else when things dont go your way. Face adversity instead of shying away from it. Work harder in the off season. Control what you can control. Porstmouth was more interested in complaining and fighting than playing football..

And all this recruiting talk....really? Maybe Ironton has an amazing football CULTURE that they have built over the years there that kids want to be a part of. Maybe thats why kids transfer there and it's not coaches that are "recruiting". I can tell you this, I drove 1:20 minutes to see what all the fuss was about surrounding Ironton football. I cant say ive ever heard "Man you got to make a trip to Portsmouth for a football game". But Ive most certainly been told this about Ironton football. All of this complaining just sounds like Jealousy at this point. If you want to be at the top it starts with building a culture with the players AND the fans in the stands.

With all of the success in other sports at Portsmouth, in your opinion, why is the culture so poor when it comes to football? It doesnt seem to be that way in other sports there.

I don't think the culture is poor at all. You saw 1 out of 12 games this year? The only other game talked about this way was against who? Ironton! There's some bad blood there.
IMO the officials, appointed by the OHSAA or not, had to be told or already knew about how the Fairland game ended and how the reaction afterwards was (by fans not the kids) and how we played Ironton the first time. Opinions were already made after that. I think at times they were more focused on how our players would react to something rather than actually officiating the way they were supposed to. Without a question it was too much at times but on the other hand sending players off the field and throwing flags just because a kid was talking I will never get behind. Really no harm there. And no I am not blaming the refs. We got beat on all phases of the game. Twice
But I will defend those kids and my community. Especially to people that don't have a clue. A lot of great things are going on here. We boo at a call and people lose their minds lol fans are passionate about the game and now all of a sudden they're drunk. Another post chiming in about a kids behavior at a basketball game. Where do things like this not happen? Let take a minute and be honest.
