Who Will Win The Soc II In 2008?????
Re: Who Will Win The Soc II In 2008?????
I didn't see any jv games but I think kemper did qb. Kemper could handle the qb position for the varsity and would do fine.He will more than likely be a wr on the varsity in 08. The reason he played qb for jv is because most of the skilled sophs were playing on friday. I think I heard they had linemen playing rb on the jv team because they didn't have any rb's. With only 35 players and so many young kids playing varsity I think they had a lot of people playing out of position on the jv and I think they had to end up cancelling some of the jv games because of the lack of players.
Re: Who Will Win The Soc II In 2008?????
Kemper played qb because Lang was already getting quality time on varsity and you are only allow so many quarters a year. And yes Leach wh has been that grade's center was a fullback for the JV becuase they didn't have the back since all of them were playing varsity.

i agree. i mean the burg won it last year and do have the most titles in soc play. so untill someone knocks the burg of of the throne then it's still the burgs gold ball. here is my early prediction.
1. burg
2. west
3. waverly
4. minford
5. valley
6 northwest
Of course both of you think that Burg will win SOC. You guys are both biased and not very realistic.
How am I not realistic? Wheelersburg has dominated the SOC for the past 35+ years and will always be right around the top of the pile, so why would next year be any different. It's called confidence and I am confident the Burg will compete and more than likely win the SOC again next year. They have a good nucleus of players coming back and some more that I hear will play next season that didn't play last season that could really help them out. It's all about having a winning attitude and that's what's instilled into the kids at Wheelersburg. They walk onto the field thinking they will win and they usually do.
You think that Minford will win so does that make you biased and unrealistic as well?

arrogant much?
Not arrogant, just confident.
I guess 27 SOC titles since 1972 will do that to you.
How many does Minford have, by the way?

I beg to differ with you. The Burg has been THE WORD 27 times in the last 35 years. I think that alone speaks for itself. If you people from the other SOC schools don't like to hear it, then do something about it and find a way to beat the Pirates on a consistent basis and not just once every blue moon.

We aren't arrogant just overly and reasonably proud of all the great things our schools have accomplished.

I hope Minford wins the SOC next year. Do I think they will win it? Well, that remains to be seen but, with all the talent that Burg lost last year, I don't see how they could be at the top of the SOC again. You lost a good quarterback, a very good running back, and your top wideout. I think that you lack experience at those important posistions.

Re: Who Will Win The Soc II In 2008?????
Here are my thoughts:
The SOC II is wide open this year. Except for West everyone loses a lot but has enough returning talent to win. Wheelersburg has dominated the SOC II since Ed Miller became coach. They do have a winning attitude and they are the defending champion. This century has seen the SOC be much more competetive. West has won one and tied for one. Minford has won one and tied for one. Waverly has won one and Wheelersburg the rest, all of which puts Wheelersburg ahead but not the dominate force they used to be. I think that the SOC II is going to be a dog fight and it will come down to some close games, and who develops the players replacing last year's seniors. I'd predict that West, Wheelersburg, Waverly and Minford will all be competetive.

You need to go ahead and not even mention Minford because we all know that they don't have a chance to win the SOC this year.

Re: Who Will Win The Soc II In 2008?????
As stated earlier even though Burg lost a large senior class, there are players staged behind these that would have been starters at most schools in the county. This is why year in and year out W'Burg is consistenly at the top of the league. Burg had nearly a 18 player rotation, working in the players that will fill the void this season. This transfers into varsity experience. As a matter of fact, of the entire OL from last season, most did not play defense at all. They do not lose the experience that everyone thinks. For this reason, they will be highly competitive in the SOC and should be in the top 2.
Again, the OL is the biggest challenge. Almost all seniors, however as I stated before there are players waiting that will fill these roles.
Here are the players returning that have varsity experience. Offense: White FB,Hopper WR/TE,Schankwiler RB/SB,Walker RB,Lang QB,Frowine OL Defense: White LB, Walker NG, Craigmiles DT, Frowine DT ,Adkins DT,Lang SS,Schankwiler DB,Hopper DE/WLB, Silvey NG
Oh... and I believe Minford should be competitive as well this season, along with West and Waverly.

Falconfan, if Minford does win the SOC II next season I will be one of the first on here to congratulate them and give them their due. Will you do the same if Wheelersburg wins or will you continue to bad mouth them and hate them? That is the difference in you and I. At least I can respect the Pirates opponents and not show so much hatred towards them.

Ok. IN MY OPINION, Minford will not win the S.O.C. title in 2008.
Why is it that when I say Minford won't win the title you jump on me, but when a Minford fan says they will win it, you don't say a word?

Where do you even come up with this crap? After last years game and the kids that Minford has returning why would anyone in Wheelersburg count the Falcons out. I think they will be very competitive again next season and could very well win the league. But, I also think the the Pirates will not miss a beat next season because regardless of what they lost from last years squad, as it has been pointes out several times by Bulldog the Pirates have tons of talent and experience coming back as well.
Yes we did lose a great QB in Spradlin, but Lang played quite a bit behind center all season long last year and gained tons of experience at the posistion and I don't see hime having any problems running the offense this year. We have Shankweiler back who was a very solid RB last season and we have Walker, Craigmiles, and more than likely Brandon Hall back there also. The defenseive line is pretty much intact and the offensive line will be just fine. I think next years team will surpirse quite a few people as to how well they do.
