Before Dave Boston Jr. is written off, I sincerely hope that the Nelsonville-York Buckeye parents and citizens attend the next school meeting. You are right, the kids have to move forward....but what about Davey, or Dave Boston Sr. for that matter. They have been part of Nelsonville football for almost 43 years. They both lived and breathed football, and both cared about our children. Where is the loyalty to them, or do we live in a society where it doesn't matter? I know it's about winning, but it's also about integrity and loyalty. The Nelsonville-York Buckeyes deserve to know. I think the Boston family would appreciate everyone's support.

The Boston family is one of great pride and deservably so.

if this continues on, our community will have a field named "BOSTON FIELD" named after Dave Boston Sr. and he will never set foot on that field again!!!!!

All the tradition, all the history, will be for not....................

Yeah those blinders were hurting my eyes!!! No, I just wanted to wait to get the facts before posting.

As far as there being 2 sides and that the NY Community is fighting amongst ourselves. There aren't any postings that I have seen that say they hope the Buckeyes fail next year. Sure, you can state your opinion, you just happen to be in the minority. I see the NY community coming together to support a family that has done nothing but GREAT things for a community. That is not what I would call fighting amongst ourselves.

Now, if you want to sit back and accept how this was all handled then fine, but MY opinion is that something about this whole situation is not on the up and up.

No one on here is saying that anyone is transferring, we are just saying that the opportunity to do so has past for anyone that MIGHT have wanted to. This is an unbelievable situation and I for one hate it.

And yes you are right, he will NEVER set foot on it again. You wonder where Buckeyes got their pride, check with Boston Sr., he instilled a lot of that in his players as has Boston, Jr.

I don't understand why this happened out of the blue. There was no inkling that Boston might not be rehired. Why would the superintendent make such a decision out of the blue when he would have had to have known it would cause conflict?

How common is it for a school board to override a superintendent? And if the decision is reversed, would that mean the superintendent would lose all credibility with the citizens?

Regardless of how this turns out, the way this has been handled is a public relations disaster.

You could not be more right.

Talk about coming out of left field, this entire situation is bizarre. Believe me when I tell you, Boston had not received any notion that he might be fired until the day he was let go as head coach but retained as AD, I guess that would put the notion that a degree was necessary to rest since he kept the position that I would have thought might require a degree.

How sad! I know the Boston's, and even though I haven't been able to speak with them since this happened, I can tell you they are heart broken. Many years ago when I first came to Nelsonville, they were there for my family. Dave Sr. coached my brother. How easy it is to just push someone out the door..........

I'm glad to hear someone that understands that something "fishy" is going on here. You don't fire a winning coach. I'm surprised to read some of these postings that have no problem with throwing him under the bus.....his whole family for that matter. I HOPE THERE ARE TONS OF PEOPLE AT THAT MEETING!

This is chaotic.

However, I don't think you can get much from newspaper quotes. What do you want, the superintendent to run Boston over the coals in the paper? I'm not saying he has anything worth the firing, but if he did, he would be classless to blurt it to the paper.

It is just heartbreaking to see how this family has been torn apart. I'm like you, don't want to say how closed I am, but there were many times Dave Boston Sr. could have gone to a bigger town or even a college to coach....making tons more money. But he loved his Nelsonville York Buckeyes, and so did Davey Jr. His loyalty was to Nelsonville....Davey Jr. needs EVERYONE'S support. I'm sure Dave Sr. will be at that meeting Monday. I'm sure he would appreciate your support.....COME TO THAT MEETING! OUR FAMILY WILL BE THERE FOR DAVEY....

This is a giant mistake! Who ever is responsible for this can't be any wider between the eyes than a common night-crawler. Coach-Ad Boston is a first class act, period.
The person responsible for this should be held accountable.
