No, what i'm saying is just what my original comment said: N-Y will lose their 3rd game next week (no more, no less). Since when are alumni not affiliated with their high schools ? Anyway, my neices and nephews are students today at Wahama and my children go to Groveport-Madison so yes, I do have affiliations with these schools today. As far as climbing on the back of winners, both G-M and Wahama have been to the playoffs numerous times so your point there is also invalid. You guys on here really crack me up !!!!! Maybe if you'd look outside of your rose colored TVC glasses you'd understand what I'm saying but that'll never happen.
FANOSPORTS wrote:
So what you are saying is that you have no real affiliation at all with any of the schools listed. You just like to climb on the back of who ever is winning and brag. You should take your negitive attitude, your Buckeye envy, and all the hatred of the TVC and GO AWAY!NYBUX wrote:FANOSPORTS wrote:N-Y will get their 3rd loss next week in the playoffs wherever their travels take them. Have a great day !!!!!
Anything else ?
Ok, well Groveport-Madison has won a total of 1 playoff game over the last 10 years. So what is the difference? Wahama is 2-2 against Trimble lifetime, so what is the difference there? Meigs, where you say you once attended, has never won a playoff game, and hasn't won a league championship this decade. So maybe you are not so far removed from us TVC glasses wearing folk you speak so fondly of.

FANOSPORTS is asked a somewhat legitimate question and he responds honestly, at which point he is cynically chastised for his reply. It is no wonder why there is so much chest thumping and ball grabbing on the majority of these threads; potential posters with some kowledge or insight into the game steer clear for fear of retaliatory posts. It would be nice to come on here and browse some threads that contain some depth.
With that being said, I think this game is going to come down to special team play and penalties. Whoever can capitalize the most on "one-play drive" opportunites with punt and kick-off returns will give themselves an excellent advantage. The other factor of penalties is obvious; the team with the fewest will have a huge leg up on their opponent.
Boston Field presents a challenge (great atmosphere, excellent tradition, expectations of success) for teams; especially local / league teams that are aware of Nelsonville-York's history. Those factors, in my mind, make N-Y a two touchdown favorite coming into any local / league game.
Coach Boston and Coach Adams are both outstanding at motivating players. I look for a high- energy, intense, hard-hitting game with players laying it on the line for personal pride, school pride, and community pride. Can't wait until kickoff!
As for the comment about Jay Edwards and the Doc Kroner Trophy; I'm sure the trophy means more to an Athens player than it does a Nelsonville-York player due to Doc's decades long commitment to Athens Football. But, I'm also sure that a player of Jay's caliber and character doesn't play for extrinsic factors, such as a trophy. He was and continues to not be a player that craves the limelight. You might have a hard time getting him to have his picture taken for the newspaper with a 200 class buck!

Yes, I understand your point. But FOS comes on here and routinely bashes both Nelsonville and Trimble posters for, as he says "wearing TVC glasses." He loves to tell how these teams lack success in the playoffs, and how foolish their fans are for thinking they can compete outside "their little bubble." Then he claims to have ties with teams the likes of Newark Catholic. Come to find out, his actual school team has won one playoff game this decade. So I guess he has a lot of room to bash us TVC fans for crowing about our teams a little bit now and then.gridiron fan wrote:FANOSPORTS is asked a somewhat legitimate question and he responds honestly, at which point he is cynically chastised for his reply. IF this is ture i would break the trophy Right after NY BEAT THEM.ucantcme wrote:Blue_Steel wrote:Good Luck Athens, Come away with a much needed win. You have too many athletes on that Athens team to lose to smaller schools.
I think a better statement would be you have too many athletes to choose from to lose to the smaller schools. We will put our best 11 out there against Athens best 11 and see what happens tonight. Div 2 against Div 5. NY will be ready!
We will display the league trophy again this year but as for the Doc Kroner trophy you can have it win or lose. Why does NY put it in a closet? Why not display it? A few years ago My soph. year at NY. We beat Athens at Rutter field and Jay Edwards asked if he could have his picture taken with Doc and the trophy, He flat refused! So take take your symbol of "not good enough to acknowledge" We just want the win.. Go Buckeyes!questionmark wrote:Nelsonville-York holds the league championship trophy, they hold the Doc Kroner trophy, and both are very much wanted by the Athens squad across the field...

I must say that FOS is not making his case very well. I do understand the point he is trying to make here. Now do I feel the TVC is a strong conference? No, but I do feel there is some good football played within the conference. I do believe that on any given night mediocre teams can beat good teams. Example: cavs should have beaten Jackson last week. Also, We had Big Walnut on the ropes the first half. So I think the upper teams in the TVC could compete within some other league teams from the area. Heavy--- 8)

I am picking the York rutters over the chancey upper crust! Good luck to all and injury free football.
Re: TVC-Ohio Championship: Athens @ Nelsonville-York
Very few teams in SEO can compete on a regular basis with teams from some of the other parts of the state. In the past, Ironton, Nelsonville, Sheridan if you count them as SEO, New Lex, Crooksville, Wheelersburg... and a few others have had their successes. But some of the teams can on occasion move out of the area and compete. That is all very well documented. But for a guy from Wahama by way of Meigs to come on here and claim ties to a state powerhouse and talk down to TVC people is a joke to me. And I plan to send him packing each time he does it.CavsFan08 wrote:I must say that FOS is not making his case very well. I do understand the point he is trying to make here. Re: TVC-Ohio Championship: Athens @ Nelsonville-York
Should be a great one. DeVon Sharp will be the best player on the field IMO but I think nelsonville- york's depth gets them the victory.

Sounds like to me that the Refs are helping Nelsonville out yet again!
Can't wait to watch this game on T.V.

I listened to the game. Seemed like there were plenty of penalties to go around for both teams.
The only call that was questioned on the air was a no-PI call on NY. However, immediately following the no-call, Athens pinned NY deep in their own territory. Athens held NY 3 and out, and scored on the punt return. It gave Athens their only lead of the game.
That whole sequence doesn't happen without the no-call.

Let me start by saying congratulations to N-Y. This was a darn good game that could've went either way. I'm very proud to say that I'm an alum and fan of Athens High School after the effort put forth by our young men on the gridiron this evening. To the graduating seniors thank you for the great memories and outstanding play every week and to the underclassmen, learn from this season and use it to your advantage, get back into the weight room and work harder than ever, study those playbooks and show everone what you are made of!
