I am working with some others trying to figure out ways to get more people into this game with a good view! lol

One scenario is taking the small bleachers around the softball and baseball fields and putting them in the west endzone for Waverlys band. This should free up a lot of room on the visitors side. Also considering a temporary fence in the same endzone for standing room. I am also wanting to move the fence on the home side onto the old track so that traffic coming off of the bleachers will have room to move between the fence and the bleachers.

I hope to start a fund raiser with the football team on getting new bleachers put up on the visitors side. The house that sits on the visitors side is up to the 35 yard line. I would like to put some high bleachers 25+ rows from the 35 to the 35 with a press box and make that the home side.

Anyone have any idea how much a set of bleachers and press box such as this would run? I know Unioto, Valley and others have built new ones. I know that this would be a huge undertaking, but I am all for growth that can lead to financial growth. The more people we can get into the game the more money we stand to make.

eagles73, What about turning the the soccer field into a football filed? Plenty of room for bleachers, locker rooms, and concessions. It seems there are more people at one football game than all of the soccer games combined. And as long as the weather is decent, parking on the practice fields could be done.

As for the game, it's too early to know what might happen, but Go Streaks!

Unioto paid 600,000

bengalfan, is that for just the home side and press box, or does that figure cover the new concessions, visitors and tunnel to the field? Of course that home side bleachers is more than what I was thinking of putting in. lol What does that thing hold anyway?

mikepike, I have approached the higher ups about that scenario and the money just isnt there for that kind of undertaking. You are talking new bleachers, plus a fieldhouse for lockers, more bathrooms and concession areas. That would be a little too much at this time. I think the field where it is will work, but seating is a premium and a new set of bleachers would help this.

john, was the smiley directed at the soccer field scenario! lol

I say that at Piketon our gym is as nice as any in the area, our track and soccer facilities are excellent, our softball and baseball fields are nice, but the money maker football complex is lacking.

The county put in the Tunnel
The home side has 2000 seat
The visitor side has 1000 seat
With a Press box price $600,000
The concession stand area with bathrooms and a meeting room $380,000.

bengalfan, that is a nice setup up there. Seems to be the kind of place that could host playoffs games in the future.

John, nah I dont think a home and home game for the Tigers will be in our best interest. lol I want to keep the AD job for a while, dont want the home faithful to run me out on a rail just yet!

Eagle I appreciate you wanting to do something about our football field bleachers. I think taking the fences out would be a GREAT idea for this season. Right now they are not handicapp accessible at all. There is absolutely no room to walk and when it rains you better be wearing rubber boots. The whole thing is absolutely embarrassing!!! I really think we need to think about the soccer field becoming our football field. I think if we would actually get something drawn up of what it would look like and exactly how much it would cost, we could get the community excited about it and local businesses. You would really be suprised the amount of donations we could get from businesses right here in our own community, but we got to get them excited about what we are trying to do! There is several fundraisers that could be done that would go straight into the building fund. It might take a couple or a few years but it can be done with the right game plan. I appreciate your enthusiasm......keep up the good work.....your doing a great job!!

Need to update locker room facilities before a playoff game.
Also need to improve the playing field.

I would say you could put in Stands and field house for about 200,000 at the Soccer field.
Move the Soccer field to the HS and get rid of the visior side bleachers.

That is very doable

Start BINGO and you got it going on brother.

Big D, I will keep that in mind!

luvthegame, I am currently working with several coaches to get a pot of gold going. Selling 200 tickets and raffling off money, providing dinner and such. Of course that would go straight to the general athletic fund. I have talked with Coach Gullion about a fundraiser for improvements to the football field.

In my opinion, Piketon is set to have several very good years in football and hopefully league championships and playoff games. Winning usually takes care of a lot of things including community support.

I heard Piketon is going to tear down the fence around the track for standing room and they may rent some bleachers for both sides. Just what i have heard....

sports, not tear down the fence, but move it on the home side bleachers onto the track. About the 5th lane, which will add much needed walking room for fans in the home side bleachers. As for the rented bleachers, still looking into it, it has to be cost efficient. If it cost more to rent them versus how many they hold times the cost of admission, than no I wont. LOL I am also going to take the bleachers around the baseball, softball fields and place them in the West end zone for Waverlys band, this will free up a large chunck of visitors bleachers for others to sit in. I am also wanting to put in a temporary fence around the visitors sideline of the West end and endzone for closer standing room.

I watched the last game at Piketon at home when they won in 97 I believe and I stood 3 deep at the fence to watch it. People will come and stand and we are trying to make it as accomodating as possible.
