The SOC should be close again this year possibly resulting in a shared title.

The SOC II is wide open this year. Except for West everyone loses a lot but has enough returning talent to win. Wheelersburg has dominated the SOC II since Ed Miller became coach. They do have a winning attitude and they are the defending champion. This century has seen the SOC be much more competetive. West has won one and tied for one. Minford has won one and tied for one. Waverly has won one and Wheelersburg the rest, all of which puts Wheelersburg ahead but not the dominate force they used to be. I think that the SOC II is going to be a dog fight and it will come down to some close games, and who develops the players replacing last year's seniors. I'd predict that West, Wheelersburg, Waverly and Minford will all be competetive.
I believe West won the SOC II outright in 01 and 02 and tied with Burg and Minford in 03.

Re: Who Will Win The Soc II In 2008?????
It is only March and the heated barbs have already started, I see. The one thing I would like to see is that through all these heated exchanges is that no one bashes the kids. All these kids are working hard and the majority read what is on here.
You cannot change history and it is what it is. You can, however, control your destiny in the future, to some degree, by working hard and doing the things you need to do to be a winner.
To be honest, I don't care that Wheelersburg has won 25 or 27 SOCs in the past. I think that is great for them and the numbers obviously speak for themselves. However, the only thing that really matters is the next game and as long as Minford, or whoever, takes the season one game at a time and does what they need to do to be successful, the rest will take care of itself.
I really think SOC II is wide open this year and it boils down to who is going to work the hardest and make the fewest mistakes. No one should expect the SOC to be handed to anyone. Whoever wins it (hopefully Minford) will have to earn it. I do think Minford will surprise people because they are reloading, not rebuilding. Sure there were some players that were tough to lose, but they are returning a lot of talent, many who would have started on a lot of other teams last year. Waverly has talent returning, as does Wheelersburg and West.
Bottom line, it should be a fun season and while the exchanges on here will continue to get hot, let's leave the kids out of it. Come November, we'll see who wanted it the most.

I agree the SOCII will be wide open. I also agree that it doesn't do a thing to get on here and argue about what has happened in the past. That i
s history. We are now talking about this coming season, everybody wants their team to be good. With that said, West will be better this coming year because they will have a complete year with Coach T. Numbers are way up in the weight room and kids are more dedicated this season than I've seen in the past few years. They are starting to believe in themselves and that is part of it. Very competitive league this season. Anything can happen. Remember Waverly a couple years back, nobody give them much credit before the season and they won the SOCII. I'm sticking with my Senators. Hoping fpr a successful and injury free season. Go West!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Killing ME! Burg is atop, so knock then off, bottom line! Dont talk about what your kids have done or what they are doing. If you want the SOC2, then beat Burg. Plain and simple. I dont care HOWMUCHYABENCHYA, or D1 this or that, line up and BEAT those Burg players on the line and you can win.
Its all in execution and if your kids cannot comply, then quit crying.
Wests seniors are the WORST group of TALENTED players that have hit this area in forever. SO GOOD, but SO BAD. I dont give them any respect for next year unless they they buy into this program. But they wont. Parents, players, it dont matter. 4-6 again this year. Locker room info? You bet. West will be Worse! As a matter of fact, those kids that were undefeated in 7th, 8th, frosh have been mediocre since then! I dont really think that the talent is there!
Minford and Waverly are the ones I am interested in, Roback could be a game changer at any time and Daniels has my respect. But the falcons will be very inexperienced but for the Qb. The loss of Reynolds is huge. Who will replace him?
Good luck to all the SOC2 teams!

Minford has solid players returning at every position and while they were not all starters last year, the majority had siginificant playing time. Many are names you probably have not heard of, but you will before the '08 season is over. Losing Reynolds will hurt, but he was responsible for 2 positions out of 22. As we all know, it takes more than 1 or 2 players to win a football game.
The hope in Minford is that teams will overlook them again this year like they did last year. All year long last year, all that was said was that Minford had no one, had not beaten anyone, etc., yet before you knew it, they were in the playoffs with an 8-2 record.
That being said, it all boils down to preparation and team work. Looking forward to seeing how this turns out. Who wants it the most? We'll see.

Yeah but alumni also want confrence championships...8-2 + the playoffs is great but if ya dont win a championship you didnt really do much except show that you can win 8 games.

West Seniors for next year have not played a game yet but there the worst ever. I guess I would hold off judgment until the season starts.

Demaniac, ignorance is bliss and you have plenty of it! To publicly degrade a bunch of kids is stupid, sounds like a personnal problem to me....but then again you were always putting down the Wheelersburg coach last year too.....I hope the West kids make a mockery of you and your opinions.....everyone has them right?

It's good to know that we have fortune teller right here on SEOPS !
Ok. IN MY OPINION, Minford will not win the S.O.C. title in 2008.
Why is it that when I say Minford won't win the title you jump on me, but when a Minford fan says they will win it, you don't say a word?
That makes no sense. I'm not going to jump on my fellow Minford folk.

4-6? I'll take that bet.

I think 6-4 or 5-5 is a more realistic end for West. Still 3rd or 4th in the confrence.

AAAAHHHHHHH!!!!!
Gotta love the Minford fan. Can get on here and make all the comments they want about Minford winning the SOC, but if someone else says the same thing they are arrogant and cocky.
When are some of you Minford people going to get over it. We in the Burg hear it every year that the Burg lost to much talent and they aren't going to be very good and then they go out and win 8-9 games, plus win the league and plus make the playoffs.
Everyone seems to have forgot that the upcoming Junior class went undefeated as Freshman and that was against some very good competition.
Burg will be right back up towards the top. The good thing about the Minford game this year is that it is at the Burg. Can't wait for that one.

Re: Who Will Win The Soc II In 2008?????
Bad for us, We have to play @ Wheelersburg. I still rember 2006 their.
It`s as bad for Minford playing there, as the Burg people say about playing @ the Tank !
As for the SOC II, We may not win it all, but you`ll know we`ve been there! Just keep overlooking these boy`s, and tell them they won`t be able to win only a few games this year .
The title of this thread should have been, Who Won`t Win The SOC II !
