FIRST you guys claim your D is soooo terrific, and yes it may be good.. but once an offense actually gets yards on you guys you start saying "well they're scrappy" "it was wet" so on and so forth.. I'll go ahead and say that this west defense can be play against..

You played at West and now route for the Burg? I hope there are extreme circumstances for that. By the way I also played under Tipton his first time around. I started on that 90' team that went 10-1 with the loss to Ironton in the playoffs. So trust me I know all to well the changes at West. But one thing never changes it is still West regardless. Coaches change, players change ,new schools are built, but us TRUE West "SIDERS" never quit routing for our boys. It really sickens me that people jump on the Westside about kids getting into trouble. Every school has it's fair share. When someone from West gets into trouble it is always blown up. If a kid gets in trouble then he should be punished by the school, Coach, and most importantly the parents. From what I have seen the last 20 years footbal has changed completely in Scioto County as far as the way it is coached and played. We used to line up nothing fancy in the power I and bring it at you. As far as conditioning goes the teams of the 70s, 80s, and early 90s would beat the teams of today in the ground. They may have fancy Offenses' and jump out to a lead, but by the fourth quarter they would be wore down. I see a bit of that type of Offense in this West team. Those (backs) run as hard as I have ever seen a group run. If they continue to pound 3 and 4 yards a pop nobody will score on them because the other teams won't have enough clock to do it in. Ground and pound baby. Westside
I have seen a lot of football but I have never seen a coach have to call a timeout because his players were fighting each other during a game. I don't think I have ever seen a team lose their composure to the extent west did in the state championship game on such a big stage like west did. I don't think I have ever heard of a highschool player having to be escorted out of a jr high football game.
escorted out of a jr high game at the burg after a ref from the burg (NAME EDITED OUT was the ref the only ref the burg gets and he cheats yes i said it he cheats)t told the boy he would smack him if he didn't shut up. i heard it wiyh my own ears!!!! the week before our game with the burg so he had to sit out.

West has an excellent Defense. South Point has a really good offense with a college level back who is big and fast. They also have excellent speed at the QB and wing backs to go with good size up front. They are a formable opponent. Don't let their record fool you. West came out flat, still managed a lead and held on. Cudos to South Point for never quitting. Most of there yards came in the second half though when right or wrong West lost a little focus with the lead and several yards came on the last drive with their 1st string against our JV. It wouldn't suprise me at all if South Point didn't loose another game. Big Point game for West.

I needed to get a name from a PW player. He was wearing #9 at last nights game, and I believe he kicked the extra points. He also got a couple of carries late in the 4th quarter. However, I do not have a #9 listed on my roster. Thanks in advance.

Well I would not call it extreme circumstances. My son and daughter attend Burg schools and son plays for the Pirates. Been in Burg for 20+ years now I guess. I can say that positive attitude and heart is what makes the Pirates successful every season. It is bread into these kids. But it takes parents, community, school board and administration as a whole to back the coaches.
I always like to see West being successful but as an alumni, all the turmoil and lack of disipline somewhat disappoint me.
If I recall in my previous post, I predicted SP to move the ball on the West D. It looks like they did break the 100 yard mark with 150+ I believe. I also predicted a 28-14 score and only missed by 1 TD at 28-7. SP has a solid group of backs. Probably the best that both Burg and West may face all season. SP defense is just not there and its there weak link IMO.
I hope West and Burg both are 9-0 heading into week 10. Based upon like opponents this should be a dandy.

After reading this thread I have a couple of points to make: The coaching at West (only the 2nd year) has completely changed the way the kids work out in preseason to the way they carry themselves on the field. That stuff takes time. Also, there is not a single poster from West on any of these threads that gets on the other schools threads and puts down the teams or the kids. Also, you make me laugh if you are going to claim that at Burg, West, Minford, Valley, Northwest or anywhere else there are not discipline issues every year for a kid here and there. The SOC II has good kids and good schools. So the trash talkers make themselves and their own schools look dumb. GOOD LUCK SOUTH POINT THE REST OF THE SEASON. You will definitely win quite a few ballgames this year.

Just keep picking against the burg the rest of the yr. What are you 0-3 on the yr.
