pmow,

That was definitely one of the better high school games I've had the chance to watch, in terms of a back and forth struggle. I think I'll always be proud of how the kids from Valley played defensively in spite of losing their top defensive lineman and their All-State LB during that game. Even in spite of the disappointing ending, that game was a very good one.

I remember that 2002 game. My son twisted his ankle really badly and we had to leave with about 6 minutes to go in the 4th quarter to take him to the emergency room to get it X-rayed and I had to listen to the game on the radio. People probably thought I was nuts since I was screaming and pounding the steering wheel as I was driving him to the hospital. lol

I still can't believe that as bad as the Burg played in the first half that they came back and won that game in OT.

So you're thinking (7-1, 3-0) Valley is the underdog to (6-2, 2-1) Wheelersburg ??

Hey BOO, where were you in October of 1964?
I have a hard time remembering where I was YESTERDAY.
I dunno, I probably was in school. Why ?

I refuse to ask, "what's next?" in this series, as a Valley grad.

First, there's the obvious, winnless streak, 45 years now. Then, came the special teams meltdown of '01 when the Burg scored three special teams touchdowns (plus an INT for a TD for good measure) in a 42-14 win at Burg. Next, came the '02 debacle where the 13-0 early lead evaporated, only to be outdone by the "miracle" in the back of the endzone courtesy of Chris Webb (?) and the eventual OT loss. All of that was followed by the five consecutive shutouts in '03, '04, '05, '06, and '07; leading to the six straight years without a TD.

So, BOO, HELL YES Valley is the UNDERDOG AT WHEELERSBURG!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

How's that for some CAPS?

Hey BOO,

If you played ball against my uncle Ralph, then I doubt you were "in school" per say in October of 1964, unless by "in school" you are indicating as a teacher...certainly not as a student. 8) I mean, I have heard of kids being held back in certain districts, but that's a little excessive by any stretch considering my uncle is a grad of the '50's. 8)

not going to talk crap theres plenty of people on here to do that. this should be a good game i plan to attend and hopefully see a great game ... would love to see valley win and a soc championship showdown week 10 but however i see burg scoring often on that valley d i have seen both teams play and valley is a decent team but they cannot stop burg love to see it happen but dont see it happening.

Burg 35
valley 14

and yes crabtree has owned minford and i as a minford fan also hate crabtree  but pretty sure coach daniels has owned valley given its only 2 games but i see many more to come :122245 but we can all talk about that on the minford valley thread next week

good luck to both teams il be at the game rooting for valley

No matter what happens this week, the game at Minford is still an SOC Championship game. If Valley pulls it out this week, it is a Valley-Minford Title game. If Burg wins this week, it is a Burg/Valley vs. Minford Championship game.

Exactly! Everyone has said over and over Valley will never play for an SOC2 title, but in reality they have a chance to either win it OUTRIGHT or a share in the next few weeks.

So, like you said....next week is the SOC Championship game. Now, will it be for an outright title or a share? That's up to Valley...

That '02 game was an instant classic. I remember watching Webb catch that pass as two Valley defenders watched him. I know they were just kids and didn't want to get the penalty, but I think I would have cleaned him before the ball got there and taken the penalty. They would have moved the ball 15 yards ahead and the Burg would have had to line up and try it again.

Then they get to OT and Dunham scores on the first play on the toss sweep (kind of reminds me of Craigmiles this year and even has the same number) Valley came right back and scored and then botched the extra point. Ever since then it has went downhill for Valley.

Still calling for about a 70% chance of rain on Friday now. will be intersting to see who it bothers the most. Will the muddy field neutralize the Burg's speed or will it hurt Valleys' passing game? Could be both, could be neither.

Should be a dandy.

Hopefully it will just be a light rain and the field will stay in good shape.

The OVC teams these two have played aren't helping them in points, just like Coal Grove they must win out to have a chance for post season. This game will be a major step for the team who wins.

We (VSN) won't be there, since it is a road game. But I would assume that WNXT will have this one. It has to be the game of the week. So you'll have to settle for an inferior product (radio) :122245
