Let's hope in order to complete a class from a mid major they offer Pat the week b-4 signing day. From watching Pat his escape ability speed needs improvement just watch the playoff game with The Haven. Working out with a good speed or track coach would help, Logan has one!

What's the difference?

None of those schools have or will offer him.

Ohio has called him so that makes them the bad guy cause the other guys haven't called at all?

So logic states that he walk-on to the school the farthest away from his home and family?

Makes no sense at all......unless one is on the Ohio University sucks at football and always will bandwagon.

Also if he's as good as everyone says then he should earn a scholly at Ohio with no problem.

he was D2 offensive player of the year! how much more do you need?

From your own words:

How short memories are around here -- a couple of years ago, D-I Mentor produced QB Bart Tanski, who was voted All Ohio and Ohio's Mr. Football. He never received a D-I offer and ended up walking on at Bowling Green where he was red-shirted and still did not play this year as a Redshirt Frosh.

Many college coaches could give a rats arse about high school awards.

Tanski received numerous D-II offers , which are usually half schollies, as D-II schools are limited to 45 total schollies. Broken into halves, they can easily maintain a 90 man squad. And with everyone treated the same, no problems with a "star".

I think Tanski is still paying his own way. and with the two QBs they just brought in Tanski will still be paying his own way. D-1 is so cut throat for QBs because they keep bringing one or two QBs in on scholly every year. most often a walk on QB will end up being a scout team QB and have alot of student loans to pay off when its over. unless they get moved to another position. once you become a starter at D-II its almost a full scholly. i have friends who play at D-II schools and only are left paying about 5,000 a year.

I played QB at OU in the 90's, and I can tell you, it's not like they're scouring the river banks trying to dredge up somebody to fill out a jersey. I had all the high-school accolades (all-state, POY in D-3), and I can tell you this...after a week there, I didn't think I'd ever play. The talent was unbelievable (and we went 4-7 my senior year)! As Paladin said, the QB position is the most competitive on the field, and the coaches are always trying to replace you. I had to post this, b/c it always cracks me up when people get on here and act like OU is doing a disservice if they don't offer a local player. Frank Solich is a great recruiter and winner...I wish I played for him!

That being said, I hope the Angle kid gets an offer from somebody...he sounds like a class kid who is a winner, and I have nothing but respect for the Logan program.

boy of summer wrote:I think it is very sad that OU did not offer Pat. He is a quality kid that could play defense at a minimum there. I think that the good citizens of Hocking County would bring tons of fans to watch him play but obviously that is not a concern to the OU athletic department-hopefully the QB they recruited from Texas is a stud and can help them win games because I doubt very seriously if many Texans will travel to Athens each weekend to watch him play. In fairness to OU and their coaches, and I feel that they have very good ones in baseball, football and basketball, they have to recruit the athletes that they feel give them the best chance to win and if that is a QB from Texas or Barberton, you have to respect that. However, I know Angle could play somewhere there-no question in my mind and put a bunch of people in the seats as well.

With that being said, I think that it is even sadder the lack of recruitment of local students (forget athletes for a moment) in southeast Ohio that OU does. Take a look at papers for the last three or four years and notice how few valedictorians or salutatorians go to OU from area high schools. I travel in my job to a lot of area high schools and it pains me to say as a supporter of OU, that there is a rapidly growing feeling of discontentment with school superintendents, principals, guidance counselors, parents and teachers, many of which are OU alumni, that the current administration does not give a hoot if they ever get students from southeast Ohio let alone athletes. In defense of OU, maybe they are running their university as a business should be run, bringing in out of state students and foreign exchange students who bring in more tuition, I do not know. Likewise, OU must be doing something very right as they have no shortage of applicants each year for their incoming freshmen class. However, I do know that it makes it difficult to donate money to the local university or attend events there, when local students get overlooked, let alone athletes.

I have heard several people in the Athletic Department wonder why few area fans come to games. If little effort is made to recruit their sons and/or daughters who are in the top half or third of their class with academic scholarship money, they will go somewhere else where it is more plentiful. Likewise, their moms and dads will go visit their children on some other campus on weekends and watch a game there.

Are you done crying about OU?? :roll: :roll: :roll: :roll:

After FBS signing is over he may end up with an FCS offer. The old I-AA is still very good football.

Orange and Brown-You are right. I got a little carried away and apologize for my post. Nonetheless, I just think that they need to pay a little bit more attention to students and athletes in their own backyard and feel that they missed out on a good one in Pat. With that being said, OU is a fine school and as I mentioned has a great threesome of head coaches.

Derek Roback was just offered a scholarship to Notre Dame this morning. Tim Hinton, who coached receivers at OU when I was there (great young coach)...ended up at Cincinatti. When Chip Kelley came in, he retained Tim off the old staff...then, he took him with him to Notre Dame. Tim was recruiting Derek at UC, they move, now it looks like Derek is going to Notre Dame. He was getting ready to sign at Toledo. Now, that opens up a spot for a kid at Toledo. Hopefully, something like that will happen and Patrick will be able to get an offer. I love seeing southern Ohio kids do well!

I saw that and had hoped it would transfer over to this thread without my doings and since it did here goes my opinion of that...............................
From people that have seen both kids play and keeping in mind that Pat played against a much more talented group when observed by this person, it was told to me that Pat is the better ATHLETE and a much better QB than DR. He is quicker, has better hips, more explosive when need be and the obvious QB skills were glaring to several that saw both play as well as being stronger and having a larger frame condusive to building a stronger body without diminishing speed. Overall a smarter football player and much more versatile.
I've read this nonsense for awhile and just sat back but mechanics were presented as a reason........ 2 words, actually letters come to mind TP. Also size and speed, what????? Okay anyone remember Troy Smith....... less than 6 feet and ran a 4.8 forty after winning the Heisman. Also couldn't throw it in the ocean until his senior year with any consistancy. I'll concede the arm strength with Pat but still think he is underestimated in those terms as well. His arm seems comparable to GG from Athens and most of his throws were just simply placed where his recievers could make a play rather than trying to impress scouts and leave his recievers out to dry. I think he is a victim of system in that he didn't have to do anything by himself to win games and played within the team. I have also been told that LHS may not help kids go to the next level as well as they could. I do understand that Pat could have taken it upon himself to put his name out there in camps and combines.

Nonetheless, I have watched him grow up and hope he continues to improve as a player and get the chance to shine somewhere if in fact that is HIS goal and not just the goal of SEOPers. He is as talented as I have witnessed in our area.

I can't comment on football ability between the two b/c I've never seen Pat play. I've heard nothing but good about him. Derek definitely has a lot to learn to become a great quarterback (remember, he played receiver his freshman and sophomore year), but as far as a frame...he's 6'4", 220 pounds, and runs and jumps like a deer.

That would be great if Toledo took a look at Pat. Time will tell. 1 week till signing day. I have a feeling we will have some news worth noting this coming week.

Angle = 0 offers
Roback = Notre Dame

I think that speaks for itself.
