Should be a good game. Being at Trimble gives the tomcats an advantage, but Wahama will win this one.

The only advantage gained here will be that the officials will be neither pulled out of the Dew Drop Inn in Mason just before the game, nor will they be ex-college roomates of Wahama's head coach. Other than that this should be a great one.

The Dew Drop Inn was demolished a couple years ago and the land bought by a church. The only drinking establishments left on the WV side are the VFW in Mason and the Hut tavern in New Haven so maybe we can get a couple of officials from there.

The TVC Hocking will have a new member soon. If the league isnt broke into 3 Div I look for NY to be in the hocking by 2012. Makes a lot of sense with them being d5 and Belpre going in for the same reason. Set aside football and NY cant compete against the sheer numbers of the bigger schools.

NY is slowly growing. They aren't really that far off from D-4, With the completion of the new Middle School and the remodel of the high school being almost done I look for more family's to move into the district.
Ny can hold there own in other sports. Boys Basketball is finally coming around, and we now have good baseball coaches. We are building one of the best Wrestling programs in the state. Your not going to see NY go to the Hocking because we get beat in Basketball by Athens and Vinton County!

As for Southerns 20+ votes....thats even funny for a Southern Alum to see. Southern needs to work hard in the offseason and oh wait....they best get a coach, that might help things a bit. But anyways Southern has some talent but its not being utilized unlike other programs around the league that have talent and use it very well. Will be an intresting year in the Hocking I would think.
Isnt Jordan Pierce coaching at Southern? I heard he was applying. Not sure if its for the top spot or as an assistant.....Having played at both schools he would probably fit right into the Meigs County Super Bowl and should improve on the purple program....
Well if he is looking to coach I believe he can just head back out the road and help the green and white team. Id rather go 0-10 then see him on our sidelines coaching. Just my opinion however.

8. South Gallia
9. Waterford
Does this sound right? Look like Trimble will start to tremble now that a key member of their coaching staff is gone.
Looks like the Southern fans took that poll over.

Re: TVC-Hocking 2010
I agree that NY will NEVER play in the TVC Hocking. And there are several reasons for this ----
1. NY fans would never let that happen. What justice would it do to the football team to have to play Eastern, Southern, Miller, etc. every year? That would be a real snooze-fest of a schedule. Can't pack Boston Field that way neither.
2. NY would still not win any more basketball championships in the Hocking, as Belpre, Eastern, and Federal Hocking traditionally have better basketball teams than NY.
3. The TVC Hocking is already TOO BIG! There are now 9 teams in the Hocking. Already, that means 8 out of 10 football games and 16 out of 20 basketball games for the Hocking schools are league games.
4. Belpre and Federal Hocking are already borderline D6 and dropping. If they don't fall to D6 in the next census, they will be D6 two years later in all likelihood. The Hocking will be all D6 schools in the very near future.
5. As has been mentioned, Wellston will most likely be D5 with NY in the next census. If the D5 schools were to leave the TVC Ohio, that would leave only 4 teams in the Ohio - Athens, Vinton County, Meigs and Alexander. If anything, new teams will be added to the TVC Ohio in the coming years, not leaving. I doubt the divisions stay unbalanced for long -- 6 in the Ohio and 9 in the Hocking. Consolidations or a lack of commitment from the new schools of South Gallia and Wahama could see the Hocking shrink in size, so we'll see where that ends up in another ten years.

Looking into the "crystal ball" I see all the schools in the TVC being division VI by the year 2030 except Athens which will by that time have fallen to DIV and will still not be getting close to making any noise in the postseason but will have won all kinds of "TVC All-Sports Trophies". (JMHO)

Southern has a new coach and a new outlook on sports. i think this poll is spot on and that Southern will become a major player in football now that all those coal miners are moving in to Racine. I wouldnt want to be coaching Meigs this fall.
