If you have a former SOUTHEAST OHIO high school athlete playing at the next level - feel free to start a thread on the high school forums.

Re: Joe Burrow - Spring game
Good to see Joe Burrow play well, but JT Barrett should be the starter, no question. B10 QB of the Year in 2014, and probably would have been again in 2015 if not for the dreaded QB shuffle. Beating Michigan 42-13 in the Big House and Notre Dame 44-28 in the Fiesta Bowl showed how valuable JT is to the Buckeye offense. Burrow's good play in the spring game is nothing more than that......a spring game. He could very well be the starter eventually but not in 2016......and then there is freshman QB Dwayne Haskins he'll have to compete with. At Ohio State, you have to compete for your position. There were many who thought JT Barrett would have been the starter in 2015, but Coach Meyer decided on Cardale Jones.

Re: Joe Burrow - Spring game
His first college visit was Nebraska. On the Nebraska forum they trash Bo for not going after Burrow. Basically say that's why bo is coaching JV football now
Re: Joe Burrow - Spring game
and Zacciah Saltzman at Georgetown as they will play the likes of Harvard, Columbia, Dartmouth and all the Patriot league team. Coaches at Ohio U , Air Force etc said he picked a great school. Best friend with his Big ten team mates.

Re: Joe Burrow - Spring game
Never heard of the Saltzmen kid before but he walked into a AAU tournament game to watch his brother with Ibi Watson of Michigan , Nick Ward of Michigan state and a U of Kentucky Football recruit and the hoopsters told us about him. He said Joe was unbelievable which sure proved right. He then rattled off SE Ohio kids to watch.
Re: OSU Freshman Joe Burrow Spring Game
He is a college man now not a high school kid spring game is a glorified practice, A big 10 game is the real deal, in time 2-3 years he will be good!

Re: Joe Burrow - Spring game
There may be some that disagree with that, but fact remains there are some very, very good players from SE Ohio that never get seen, or maybe even more accurately don't understand how to get the exposure to get seen. Perhaps the likes of Burrow, Pendleton at MSU, Prater at Northwestern, Williams at Stanford will help players from our area.colsoh wrote:SE Ohio football is very good
We should have a couple other linemen from our neck of the woods get an opportunity. The more players that get watched, the more some other players can get seen.
I had a coach (D2 level) tell me once that almost inevitably he goes to watch one kid and comes away thinking there are several more that needs to be on their radar. Exposure = Opportunity.

Re: Joe Burrow - Spring game
oh I don't see jt getting upended. no way burrows starts above barrett. but it's great to know burrow looked strong in relief. I was just saying barrett looked off. barrett should have a banner year. as should the buckeyes if they get some things ironed out.trojandave wrote:Good to see Joe Burrow play well, but JT Barrett should be the starter, no question. Athens did set the bar very high. I can't think of a team that was as dominant as Athens in its time period.
Re: Joe Burrow - Spring game
Ironton of the 70's, 80's and 90's. Now that was a run!Raider6309 wrote:Athens did set the bar very high. I can't think of a team that was as dominant as Athens in its time period.

Now that would be a debate. 79 Ironton vs 14 Athens. Polar opposites. Under 30 Ironton wins. Over 30 Athens pulls away

Both put the fear of god in their opponents. Ironton would beat you 35-0 and you would be sore. Athens would put up 60 on your field and not break a sweat

Re: Joe Burrow - Spring game
Be cool next year to see Trae Williams and Prater both starting for Northwestern. And Trae picking off Joey. Be like when Dick Adams laid out Todd Synder

JT will be the starter the next two years with John getting mop up duty.noreply66 wrote:this topic is about Joe [John] Burrow and the spring game..keep on topic
