Theres nothing in burg even remotely economically promising. Nothing.
And the high school football is awful. Lol
92 to 7.
Let’s look at Burg’s fall accomplishments:
- Regional runner-up in football
- Regional runner-up in volleyball
- Regional runner-up in boys soccer
- Regional semi-finalist in girls soccer
- Regional qualifier in cross country
So an average year but still the best overall performance of any school in SEO while also maintaining the best academics in the area. For most schools in Ohio, this would be their highlights over the past 10+ years. For Burg, this is just another fall.
Your jealousy of Burg is showing. You know down deep that Burg is a shining example of excellence, and it eats you up inside.
If you were a Burg grad, you would have been considered bottom of the barrel material. Although most Ironton fans on here consider you bottom of the barrel material as well.![]()

That’s sad that you are bragging about possibly playing ML, a great program but a small one. Burg played home games against Coldwater and Kenton back in the late 90’s. Nothing new about getting schools like this on the schedule.798924 wrote: Wed Dec 11, 2024 4:23 pmAnd meanwhile, as Ironton is trying to schedule Marion Local, Softburg is trying to run away from competitive programs in their own region.798924 wrote: Wed Dec 11, 2024 4:20 pmI keep my analysis factual.Old Shorts wrote: Wed Dec 11, 2024 7:42 am

Wheelersburg football has only made it past their region 4 times in over 40 years.
Wheelersburg is 1 & 16 vs Ironton, Jackson, & Harvest Prep combined over the last four seasons.
Ironton jammed a running clock down Softburgs throat, not once, but twice in 2024, for a combined final score of 92 to 7.
It took wheelersburg football their entire programs history to match the 79 and 89 state titles Ironton accumulated under Lutz in ten seasons.
And now Ironton has three and enroute to their 3rd title, embarrassed Softburg 55 to 0 in the playoffs.
The comparsion of these two programs is and always will be ridiculous.
Softburg is and always will be the envious and mouthy little sister that cant really hang.
92 to 7
Comparing Ironton & burg is an insult to Ironton.
92 to 7
What’s changed is that Lutz never would have played such schools; definitely wouldn’t be on the phone begging them for games. Too small for the Ironton teams of the 70’s and 80’s. Things have definitely changed.

Why is anyone talking about Wheelersburg? Well, I guess they aren’t. Their fans are clearly displaying IDS and making excuses for why Ironton is the best program in this part of the state. Aftet losing by the largest deficit in the history of the matchup with Ironton [ 55 to 0] and coming a mere TD and a 2 point conversion away from giving up 100 points to Ironton in 24, idk any redeeming qualities burg fans could conjure up about their severely lackluster football program that has only made it beyond the region 4 times in 40 years.

Before some IHS fans lose their minds, let me start with IHS absolutely should play this game if ML deems IHS worth it. IHS needs the game, and this could be a money maker. Pendleton should take it even if it means traveling to ML with no home option.TigerBob wrote: Wed Dec 11, 2024 11:03 pm It is sad that Ironton has fallen so far as to attempt to schedule the team with the nation’s longest win streak. That said, getting ML on the schedule is not a major achievement like some think. Pendleton getting Moeller? That was a big deal. Pendleton getting the Ironton Classic up and running? Impressive accomplishment. ML? We’ve already seen Coldwater and Kenton travel to SEO in the regular season to play. ML doing it falls in line with what has happened in the past.
Now as for Lutz, I’ll set this up so that you can answer this for yourself. Not sure your age, but assuming you were around in the 80’s when IHS was a D3 school and only five divisions existed. If so, then you know that Newark Catholic was the D5 powerhouse with 9 regional titles and 5 state titles in the 80’s alone. Once has a winning streak of 63-1. Not quite ML good but very good nonetheless.
So given all of that, do you really think Lutz was sitting by the phone hoping NC would choose to play Ironton? Do you think he would even give NC the time of day?
