WK 1 Jackson @ Wellston
Re: WK 1 Jackson @ Wellston
This game is really hard for me. In the early 2000's when we had some of the best backs around Ohio, and yes I said all of OHIO, and had a tough line, I really thought we had Jackson over matched in at least 4 or 5 years. Wellston simply did not get the job done in those years. I say every year that we might just win this year. But this year, I really think we have a shot. Comparing each spot on the field, Wellston is just as good, and at some spots, better.
Offensive Positions...
RB/FB: The Lockard, Seymour, Prater combination, IMO, outmatches the duo of Huff, Haller, and Brown. Advantage: Wellston
Quarterback: Brown, to me, has no doubt an advantage on Wilkett as of right now. With that being said, Advantage: Jackson
TE/SE/WR: In the tight in spot, there is no question Trace from Jackson wins this over Darnell just because of his size and ability. In the receiver spots, Jeff Matteson from Wellston matches up with Lucas Lindamoon from Jackson quite well, as also Wagner from the Rockets matches up with Boggs from Jackson. Advantage: Even
Special Teams: Jackson always has and always will be better in this category just because the fact that they have really good kicking. So in that case, Advantage: Jackson

I agree that Wellston has some nice skill players, but the game is won up front. Can Wellston win the battle in the trenches against Jackson's defensive line? If so, then they have a chance to win. If not, then they don't. Defense also plays a pretty big role in determining the outcome.

02, I completely forgot to put the line in there, but I guess that is what you get when you are in a hurry. BTW, Jackson line has the edge in this one.

Rocket fans are heard saying "so you're saying there's a chance"?

Re: WK 1 Jackson @ Wellston
If I read the score right Wheelersburg beat Ironton? If thats the case I feel much better about Jackson's chances to win. However, you have to play the game look at Oak Hill they took one on the chin big time. I think everyone on the thread picked Oak Hill to win big. BUt Peake showed up and didn't listen to the hype. I think Coach Wolford won't let that happen. New Prediction: Jackson 40- Wellston 12. Does anyone know which radio is broadcasting this game and who will be doing the play by play? If its not Dan and Dan I might mingle up to Wellston afterall.

Jackson 14

Just started listening Wellston recoverd a fumble in Jackson territory midway in the second Qtr on the 40 got there first 1st down and took it down to around the 20 and turned it over on downs.
Wellston stopped Jackson, now have the ball their own 35 yard line.

Wellston turns it over on a fumble after a completed slant. Jackson's Brown breaks one for a score but is called back by penalty.
Jackson's ball 4th and 4 on Wellston's 24 yard line 2:52 to go

Jackson runs Arthur the fullback and gets the 1st down. About 2 minutes to go. Run the fullback again for 6 yards but dead ball unsportsmanlike on the Ironman. Penalties are keeping the Rockets in the game.
